I opened my mouth.

I opened them again. "You—you and me?"
He nodded. "That's what I was told."
"By whom?"
"Everybody!" He threw up his hands. "I've been waylaid in the hallways, at the dining area, and all over the hospital wing by well-wishers."
"I didn't know what to say that would not jeopardize your mother's announcement." He looked away, unable to meet my eyes.
I exhaled a harsh breath. "How are Connor and Corwin handling this?"
"They have been told to lie low and to stay away from you for the time being."
He rubbed his eyes with tired hands. "I managed to convince them it was for the best because of your relapse, and because this could explode into a bad situation for you and your family."
"They seemed to understand and they assured me that they were not going to rock the boat on this one."
