Then, he dropped Tory to the floor and dusted his hands. "Why is this cretin even here?"
"Because we need to get him to safety, remember?"
I marveled at Corwin's show of strength even though I knew his bones were still not completely healed. I was not about to say anything, however.
He wanted to impress upon Tory his strength and I was not about to take that away from him.
Tory scrambled up and moved as far as he could away from Corwin, his eyes haunted as if he was reminded of past aggressions against him.
I turned to Corwin and nudged him towards the large cushioned leather chair, away from Tory.
"How about you sit here and enjoy the ride while I talk to Tory for a bit, hmmm?"
He sank down onto the chair, pulling me with him. My eyes widened as I struggled not to touch his bruised body and fractured bones but he simply laughed.
