Chapter 3 - Chapter 3

Giselle stifled another yawn as Dr Li Han waxed poetic about cardiac surgery.

At least I got a free meal, she thought snidely and with any luck Janine should almost be here. As if on cue, her best friend waved as she made her way over to where they sat in the new Bistro.

" Hey sweetie, how's it going?"

Giselle squeezed her tightly before turning to introduce her to a sneering Li Han.

" Li Han meet my bestfriend Janine Malcolm..."

" That's Dr. Li Han," he corrected snidely.

Giselle and Janine exchanged looks.

" Nice to meet you Dr Han, um so how's the date going?"

Giselle's eyes pleaded for rescue.

" It's going splendidly. "

His confidence made Giselle grit her teeth.

" Um, unfortunately I promised Janine my expert assistance with a problem so...raincheck? Thanks Dr Han, bye."

She all but dragged Janine away from his bemused expression.

" He seems like fun."

Giselle rolled her eyes in disdain.

" Jan if boring, arrogant and wishy washy was a person you'd have just met them."

Janine laughed at the description.

" So what's been happening since I left? Since when do you go on blind dates?"

She sighed sadly as she watched Janine.

" Apparently, I'm of marrying age?"

" What the..."

" That's what I said," she teased.

Janie's face grew serious and she knew what was coming.

" Why don't you move out, Gee? You're not happy there and now they want to get rid of you."

Giselle smiled sadly, her heart just couldn't sever the flimsy strings that connected her to her family.

" In other news, I'm going to an interview at L space!"

Janine clapped her her with glee.

" Now that's what I'm talking about! I hope you get it hun."

Why couldn't her family be more like Janine? She knew just how to make her feel better.

Janine shrewdly watched her bestfriend as she waxed poetic about Liam Alexander.

" You know, if I didn't know any better, I'd think you were crushing on your future boss," she teased knowingly.

Giselle had never just met a guy and liked him so it was most suspicious that she couldn't stop talking about this guy she hadn't met yet.

Giselle's face burned bright red as she tried to play it off with a smile.

" He's my future boss, I can't get a crush on him."

Janine grinned knowingly, loving this new guy curious side of her all too serious bestie.
