Chapter 25 - Have you ever closed your eyes for the world to pass you by?

Imma speed you by how the rest of the night went. Mathis, Garn, and Amere yelled amongst the assembly for a few hours. Then we went home. The idea for a socialized army, a plan to capture Gordon's crew, and another imitator raid were all shut down. It's amazing. How do Individuals who have no idea what shape the Oval Office is know how to filibuster?

The gem light burned my eyes through the leather blinds. It's morning. Forty dudes and I shared sleeping space on the cold dirt floor of the mess hall. To be honest, I woke up before when somebody stuck their hand in my mouth. That dude did mad cardio sleep-fidgeting. He did at least 12 damage to everyone in a two-meter radius, so we did everything we could to sleep around him. In my darkest hour, since that guy was also whispering Amere's name in his sleep, I sucked on his fingers, imagining Amere's toes.

"Ah shit. Sorry," Sergei woke up. He got his hand out of my mouth.

"Huh? Oh. No worries." I nonchalantly replied. I casually stretched, looking around for breakfast.

"Hmmm? There's no breakfast, Ennui."

"Wait, what?"

"We do morning chores -I mean quests for the townspeople, and they feed us individually."

"What kind of tasks?" I pondered.

Sergei wordlessly handed me a shovel with a blade made of bone. He also grabbed a rock hammer, a few coroner's blades, needles, sickles, and various other exhuming tools.

We walked to the site of the attacks from the day prior. There had been another vigil made spawning from our guild hall to the market, all 1000 meters of it. Surprisingly, the bodies of the goblins and the two dead players haven't despawned yet. Maybe they never will?

"Come on, Ennui, let's get these boys home. Wait, is this too much? What did you do for a living on the other side?" Sergei sounded concerned.

"What did you do?" I retaliated.

"I was a police officer. Actually, before, I did a few tours in the middle east. Almost made it out unscathed." He boasted, somehow wistfully. No wonder he knew how to organize goons.

"You seem awfully chill," I said.

"Years of painkillers will do that to you." He laughed. He heaved, bringing down the hammer on the clear debris. I carried the chunks away. Below, the twisted corpses, limbs, and torsos sprawled, mixing human and goblin. All they shared beside each other's company were empty health bars.
