She sat in front of her dressing table, watching her reflection on the mirror, while some maids fawned on her and dressed her.
"your highness, you don't know how much everyone worried about you when you were asleep." the youngest apprentice maid, Luan weeped. "I thought you would never wake up."
"don't say that, her highness is very strong and healthy." sue, an elder maid flattered, styling her hair. "isn't that true, your highness?"
Even though she said that, the underlying meaning of her words were, 'are you cursing her highness?'
There was no way the naive twelve year old Luan, or the eight years old princess would understand that, but the princess isn't a mere eight year old, she had come to the past, her brain was that of a very mature woman.
Still, Amourora didn't understand what she was hinting at.
"your highness, when you were asleep, her majesty came here every day with flowers. She must love you a lot. " Luna, Luan's sister, and another apprentice maid, changed the topic, and gestured to the flowers decorating her room.
"aren't those your favorite, your highness? They are very pretty. "Lina, the eldest apprentice maid, chimed in.
"yes, however, these beautiful roses don't stand a chance against our princess's beauty." sue flattered.
The child her would have loved those flattering comments, but now she was already confused and stressed because of her situation, so they only annoyed her.
" they're not roses... " sighed Lina under her breath.
" your highness, are you alright? " Tina, another elder maid asked. "maybe eating something would help you feel better, you didn't eat anything for almost a week, you must be hungry."
"I'm fine." she snapped, why can't they just shut up? Even the child her would have been annoyed by now. She was too confused and frustrated.
"her highness just woke up, stop bothering her." Auntie Maleia, a senior maid reprimanded, then turned to the princess in a gentle manner. " it's true that your highness seems very quiet today, perhaps wearing your favorite dress will cheer you up? "
Mal held out a luxurious marigold-colored dress, with frilly layers of yellow fabric in the skirt. She didn't know why she had loved that dress so much, the color didn't suit her, and the golden accessories didn't match with the dress at all. Furthermore, it was itchy, tight, and uncomfortable to sit in.
"No. Get me another one." she rejected blantly.
She walked over to the back of her closet and brought out a small box. "this one."
"your highness, that one is a bit... too simple. Oh, well, if that's what your highness wants." Mal said gently.
The box was a birthday present from her mother for her seventh birthday, she thought it looked too simple for a princess and never wore it, until it eventually got too small to fit her.
It was a pretty aqua-colored dress, along with its accessories. She thought the dress would be too small or tight, but surprisingly, it hugged her figure just right, it's hemline reaching just below the knees. As the dressing code for children isn't as strict as the adults' it was appropriate for to wear a short dress, as long as she wore tights or socks to cover her legs.
The dress had smooth silk fabric that came down in flowy layers, and it had delicate golden embroidery at the edges. And instead of sleeves, it had a bertha collar falling gently over her chest and shoulders, with golden floral embroidery and white delicate lace at the edges, just like the skirt. With a matching long white fingerless glove made out of very thin lace, to go with it.
The jewelry set was made of thin gold wires wrapped around blue jems in the shape of tear drops. A pair of earrings, necklace, and an elven tiara, it all looked beautiful and meticulously chosen.
It must have taken a lot of time and effort.
It suited her dark hair and fair skin perfectly, that she chose to let her hair flow down her back and shoulders in perfect waves, for the first time.
Now she's ready to meet her family!
