Chereads / Daoist Fool / Chapter 9 - Mediocre Talent

Chapter 9 - Mediocre Talent

"Of course there are." ,Jake replied, "This is the difference between a Mortal and a Cultivator. There are six types of Spiritual Grades in the world of cultivation. They are Mortal Grade, Warrior Grade, Major Grade, General Grade, King Grade and Emperor Grade. Here Mortal Grade Spiritual Grade is the lowest, while the Emperor Grade was the highest one."

Jake continued, "Among the entire population, the people with the Mortal Grade Spiritual Roots existed more in numbers. Most of the cultivators who were regarded as trash were at least have Warrior Grade Spiritual Roots. As for the people with the Mortal Grade Spiritual Roots, even though they waste time with cultivation, they could cultivate as well. But they could have very low success in their entire lives. They will be at the bottom of the cultivation world."

Ethan understood everything. He commented, "So a person's future in cultivation is based on their rank of Spiritual Root."

"Exactly." ,Jake smiled and replied, "So we have to test your level of Spiritual Roots to test your talent. So are you ready for the test, Junior Brother?"

"I am ready." ,Ethan replied with both excitement and nervous mind. He knew what level of talent he possessed. Even back on Earth, he was a trash. So in the cultivation world, how could he remain calm with such a terrible track record on earth?

But he still wanted to give it a shot. If he was lucky and possessed at least, Warrior Grade Spiritual Root, then he could at least cultivate. Later with the help of the system, he could think of his future.

At that time, Jake took out a Crystal which was around 10cm in diameter and said, "Little Brother, please drip your blood on this crystal stone. This will test your blood and give us the rank of your Spiritual Roots."

"Got it." ,Ethan nodded his head. But then his hands started to shake. In order to drip the blood, he had to intentionally cause damage to his body. Even though it might be a small wound that could be overlooked, after living a comfortable life back on earth, he hesitated to harm his hands.

But after a thought strike which reminded him how he is about to become a cultivator, he didn't know where exactly he burrowed courage from, he pressed his thumb in between his teeth and cut his finger. Even though he felt pain, he didn't want to look like an idiot in front of everyone. So he bore with the pain.

After successfully dripping the blood on the crystal stone, the Crystal Stone started to lit up with a green light. Ethan was excited. He saw this kind of magical phenomenon only in television shows or anime. And this was the first time he saw this kind of magic in the real world. This boosted his desire to cultivate diligently.

After some time, a series of information started to be displayed on the crystal stone. While Ethan was nervous, after reading the results, Jake almost coughed out blood. He felt as if the heaven is playing games with him.

Spiritual Root : Mortal Grade

Physique : Mortal Grade

Spirit : Mortal Grade

Since Ethan was a complete noob, in order to not put much pressure on him, Jake only told him about the Spiritual Roots. He didn't care to tell about the other requirements like Physique and Spirit Grades.

Physique also plays an important role for a cultivator's development. A strong physique will enhance a cultivator's endurance. It will help them to raise their defense. But defense is just a common attribute of a physique. Advanced grades of Physique could also be used for offensive purposes. So physique also played an important role in the cultivation world.

As for Spirit, it is a sensitive topic. In the cultivation world, there are very few people who could unleash the power of a Spirit to attack the minds of opponent cultivators. They were feared and respected all over the world.

But the number of people who could use the Spirit Energy were very few in number. They were very rare and found in the top Sects and organizations. A small place like the Sacred Wind Academy could only dream to have one. In fact, in the large history of Royal God Sect, there was no such person who could use the Spirit Energy.

So how could one find a Spirit Cultivator in the declined school like the Sacred Wind Academy? It was impossible. But there was a rumor that the founder of the academy was a Spirit Cultivator. As for the legitimacy of this rumor, no one knew.

Jake could accept the grade of the Spirit attribute. But both Physique and Spiritual Roots to be at the Mortal Grade as well, there is no way Jake could accept this.

A 23 year old debutant cultivator with Mortal Grade Physique, Spiritual Roots and the Spirit Attribute. This might be the trashiest cultivator in the history ever. If the news of them recruiting this kind of person leaked out, then the image of their sect will fall even down as they will be laughed at.

Jake looked at the innocent face put by Ethan and almost vomited blood. Anger built up within the hearts of Jake and other members from the Sacred Wind Academy. If they weren't in a rush and were in high pressure to fill the numbers, then they would have definitely kicked Ethan with endless curses.

Jake calmed down and said, "Little Brother, I don't want to say this. But your talent is not good in cultivation. Even though we still admit you in our academy, I will warn you right now. I hate to say this but your future accomplishments will be not even to the up to the mark."

"It's fine." ,Even though Ethan was disappointed, he still accepted this result. But he had the trust in his system. He could tell that his System was not an ordinary one. After all, it had transmitted the entire language of this world to his brain. Even though it was in credit, transmitting a complete foreign language to his mind was not something an ordinary thing could do. So he placed all his hopes on the System and decided to still cultivate.

After all, back on earth, he always dreamt about becoming a cultivator. Since he now had the opportunity to learn, how could he give up. Even though his accomplishments won't be good, he will be satisfied with whatever extent he can go to.

"Good." ,Jake sighed and said, "If that is the case, then let us go back to the academy."

"Alright." ,Ethan replied and followed them to the carriage.
