Chereads / I Accidentally Made Worlds Collide / Chapter 72 - Redemption?

Chapter 72 - Redemption?

Hramm City was not the only victim in the West Green. Many towns and villages were destroyed. One of them is where the Enova Household resides. They were still an unnamed town but that's because they are only called the Town.

In the area, there is only one city and the rest were villages. They were the only town there but now, it was in ruins.

The Town Mayor was discussing heavy topics within the town hall that still barely have their roof over it.

"What can we do? Even those who have experience in medicines, even if little, were harmed too. If this goes on, the Town will lose more than its population!"

The other elders were agreeing to these words.

"If only we are still connected to the Hramm City, we wouldn't be in this city!"

One of the elders has slammed the table.

Merim didn't step in and helped the Enova family. After the failed assassination, the Town only blamed Elihim's family even more. What they didn't know was that the Enova Family have already moved on and were living a good life because of Elihim. Also, they were oblivious to the fact that even Hramm City was in a state of ruins.

If not for the surrounding mountains, the wind would've been stronger. Yet, for it to be strong enough to topple poles in the East Green, in the West Green, it destroyed most of the forest and halved the mountains.

It was only the human instincts to evacuate to safety that many were able to survive. But in comparison, many were also dead and most were injured, also waiting for death to arrive.

At that moment, there was a ruckus outside.

The elders looked at each other before going out. With the Town Mayor as the leading man, they all saw who was in the midst of the pitiful crowd.

"You really dare to show your face here, Heron!?'

"What!? You want help!? You even brought your daughter to beg!? You have no shame!"

"Get away! We don't have anything for people like you!"

At one point, one man has thrown a stone at Heron. But Ellie slightly raised her hand and a forefield was created with Puppeteering.

When the stone that they expected to hit Heron bounced off mid-air as if there was an invisible wall, all the townspeople stopped at once. They were in disbelief.

Is the little girl responsible for that?

How?

"Listen here. I have sinned for this town but what you're doing has overstepped the line!"

Heron was angry at first that someone dares to throw a stone even though Ellie was there. No, even before that. They were cursing at him in front of his daughter?

However, seeing that Ellie's ability had shut them up, he was able to regain his composure.

Heron steadily stood as he gently placed his hand on Ellie's shoulder as if apologizing she had to hear all of that. His expression turned firm when he saw Ellie not disturbed by it.

'Am I mentally weaker than my seven-year-old daughter!?'

That thought made him internally tougher.

"I am here to help."

Heron took a pouch from his pocket and revealed the gold coins within it.

They have been receiving eight gold coins from Merim as repayment for Elihim. However, the couple found it as a waste of money to be using it for luxurious meals. Sure, it was good, convenient, and delicious but they cannot afford to live luxuriously without care.

Therefore, they saved it up. Merim found this beneficial and stopped the city's top chef from providing the meals. If they continued to affiliate with those chefs, some nobles may be able to track their movement and eventually begin to ask how they were getting that kind of money. On top of that, to be using it on food? There should be more from where it came from.

That would arouse suspicion and it's not like Heron was a cripple to not have the power to provide meals. With Elihim taking care of Ellie, it was only him and his wife, Lyssa. It had become easier than before and they were able to save up tons of money each month.

At this logic, Merim has provided a whole year's worth of gold coins as advance payment but sure enough, he wasn't able to keep himself from asking big questions that soon used that payment up.

"There's more where it came from."

Heron continued before pocketing the pouch of gold coins. Everyone's eyes have a tint of greed on them. If Ellie was not there, they would've attacked Heron by now, justifying that he should repay what he had done to the town.

"You think your gold can help us!?"

The Town Mayor said in a tough voice as he applied his authority behind it.

"No, but I brought to let you see that we have more than before. We have a lot of meat stocks. That should be enough to get you all through the Storm and the Flood, right?"

Yes, Elihim didn't just ignore his parents in this world. Although what he gave to Ellie could not be compared, he had given them a lot for this task. Right after the Emeralkan Imagis have gone away, Elihim took the liberty to grab the remaining meat. He even came to a Beast King's territory without knowing.

This task is to recover Heron's status in the town.

Elihim wasn't immature to hold a grudge. If he wants to, he can kill all the townspeople. However, they still have their own use. Why waste them?

But of course... they still needs a bit of disciplining.

Heron left when the town has declined his offer. But when hunger struck, they came knocking at their door and began to plead.

It was satisfying for the couple and they have moved out half of what Elihim gave them to help the town.

The Storm was coming as it just passed through the White Boundary. The Shorepeople and even surviving Verdents have searched for cities.

Elihim predicted that this is no longer a war like he expected. Because of the intensity of that one wave of wind, the city will expect a siege.
