Scouting the nearby forest where the 'meteor' dropped, the Headmaster, Hilbert Grenzen led three more Academy Elites along with him. While the three youngest Elites; Remon, Hresha, and Merim were back at the campsite, watching the students, the five of them seniors were looking around from the start.
"Headmaster, how long do we tread in these woods? I'm not complaining but, nothing eventful has yet to happen."
The third oldest Academy Elite asked Headmaster Hilbert which he replied with a frown on his face.
"According to the elder... we should be able to encounter the entity here. I, too, am confused and am losing patience but we have no choice but to visit that opportunity ourselves. There's some time before the storm arrives."
He spoke with a dignified expression.
The Academy Elite who asked just nodded but there's still doubt on his face. Noticing this, the headmaster sighed and said.
"This is very important. Don't take the elder's epiphany lightly."
"No, I am not taking the elder's words lightly, Headmaster."
"No need to lie, it's clearly written on your face."
"Ah..." the Academy Elite just gave in and apologized, "I'm sorry, Headmaster, it's just that the last time the elder's epiphany about the entity was about eight years ago. At that moment, the whole academy was almost turned upside down by his warning. However, nothing really happened."
The other two Elites nodded in agreement.
"Hm, you're right, nothing happened and it seemed that the elder just overreacted. However, I was there when he had his epiphany. I just know for sure that... the elder wouldn't overreact over some light matters."
The three Academy Elites looked at each other.
"I guess I have to tell you the whole story. I, too, didn't think about it too much since it has been years, however, it still bugs my mind. Reland has such a mysterious past, countless of past civilization seen from under the grounds, and abominations living in the center of everything."
The other three Elites shivered as they know what the headmaster was talking about at the end.
"We have such a complex and unknown past, it wouldn't be surprising that the future, too, will be the same..." he spoke with a worried expression, "And this is where the elder's words come in, listen well, I don't know if I remember it from word to word but this is what he said when the 'meteor' fell."
Gulps could be heard as the three listened carefully. They haven't heard anything about this until today.
The headmaster then spoke just as what he remembered that night when the elder of the Emeralkan Academy, a Fate Imagi, briefly saw the future.
"There is an entity who will bring, not just danger, not just death, neither heaven nor hell, onto this world. Instead, this entity will bring alternate realities together, destruction upon destruction as they collide. Human lives will become like weed when a certain time comes."
Headmaster Hilbert paused for the other three to process what he just said since he himself is aware of the ambiguity of those words. He then continued.
"But the entity is still in its infancy from where the star fell. This is about the fate of the world, however, we shouldn't step in as to let fate do its own work. Even if we look now, nothing will change."
The headmaster then finished which the third oldest Academy Elite asked upon realizing something.
"Then... does that mean that the elder himself already knew that nothing will happen that day? Then why send Merim?"
"I personally sent him without the Elder's knowledge. He's new so there's no harm and he wouldn't be able to interact with the Elder that much. However, as you know, he found nothing... this didn't make me comfortable. Even if we say that there is only little chance that what the Elder's words were true, there's still a chance- a chance that right here, right now, there is someone holding the fate of the whole world, leading it to its destruction. I... just felt the obligation to stop that therefore, we should take this seriously even if, in the end, the Elder has just gone senile, sending us to a goose chase."
The headmaster's words were not only logical but also magnanimous. The Academy Elites suddenly felt guilty questioning his decisions, albeit indirectly.
But, if what the Elder 'saw' is true, then didn't they just hear something big, no, ridiculously big?
Just like the headmaster, the others felt uncomfortable. So that's why the headmaster didn't tell them, it's because it will only bring fear and anxiety while they cannot do anything. After all, this is the end of the world they are talking about.
Truly, the headmaster is just full of good intentions. Their respect increased once again. This time, it was their foolishness that they learned of the disturbing truth.
"After eight years, this is the only opportunity the elder has revealed to us!" Headmaster Hilbert immediately swept their anxiety away with charismatic and optimistic words, "If we encounter this entity, it will give us the chance to change the world's fate, saving it from destruction! Don't fear but be courageous, we have been given a chance to save the world, therefore, we should do our best!"
"Yes!"
The other three immediately straightened, the feeling of heroism swelled up inside of them. They gave their all moving around. It might seem easy but doing the same thing- waiting for something to happen for days was quite tiring.
Until eventually, the event has ended and none of them encountered anything. They began to doubt the elder's words once again.
The last day of hunting has ended and as the academy as a whole prepares for their return to the city, Elihim called both Hresha and Merim to talk.
Once the three of them were alone, Elihim smiled and said.
"Good job for seeing through the school event. With this, I can move to the next phase."
Both Hresha and Merim frowned, not knowing what the hell was Elihim was talking about. Why is he talking as if he was the one who planned the event?
