Meanwhile.
After Lola walked up on them, Ayana protectively snuggled Morgana's face to herself and prevent Lola from seeing the princess crying.
Lola doesn't look too comfortable with their position, clearly because she was against same gender being lovers, but she wasn't bitching about it either.
She just gave them a nervous smile and quickly wanted to leave, but that's when Ayana's name was called and Lola eagerly volunteer to cover for her, since Ayana didn't even flinch when her boss called.
Obviously, she never planned to stand up.
After Lola left, Ayana pulled back and looked into Morgana's eyes.
"Your highness, are you alright now? Did something happen? You were fine before you left, so could it be the visitor?
Please tell me what happened and I will get revenge for you, as long as it's the visitor." Ayana said with worry in her eyes.
Morgana was done though. She was already comforted by the warm embrace of Ayana and not that weak to crumble over reminiscing the past.
She just couldn't help but let it out earlier.
"Ayana, I'm alright. No one hurt me." She assured.
"Then, why did you….." Ayana trailed off and blushed hard as she recalled how they had hugged a few moments ago.
Morgana chuckled softly at her cuteness.
"See your cheeks so pink." She teased and Ayana looked away in embarrassment.
"But something odd happened." Morgana suddenly recalled that the sardine man got her worried.
Before Ayana could asked what happened, Morgana suggested that they head to their room and have a chat.
Morgana doesn't keep something from Ayana and she wasn't planning to start now. They are in this together, so she might as well tell her the discovery.
....
"No way!" Ayana exclaimed in shock and confusion.
Morgana looked so serious though and Ayana couldn't ask a stupid question of is she's sure about what she had just said or not.
"Hum, this might be weird, but is it possible he just had his meal before coming or he had it on the way here and sardine happened to be included.
Your highness has a sharp sense of smell, so you must have picked on it." Ayana said, trying to come up with a reasonable excuse, that would differ from what they are thinking it was at the back of their mind.
Morgana's silence further concluded that assumption is ridiculous.
"Your highness, that could be possible, since it's your favorite." Ayana argued.
Morgana smiled softly and opened a drawal near their bed.
The stay in a small single room with just two beds beside each other, and a drawal they both shared in between the small space demarcating their beds.
Ayana was just as weary as Morgana, but it was just going up a notch when Morgana doesn't seem to let them fill their head with the assumptions she came up with.
How could it even be possible.
Crazy.
No wonder the princess reminisced about her life and got emotional.
Ayana was having those thoughts roaming her mind, while Morgana pointed at the drawal filled with canned Sardine and Tuna.
If Morgana's love for sardines is unmatched, then Tuna would be Ayana's beloved.
The two don't even appear weird to those around them.
Everyone just didn't think about how odd they are.
"I can't smell the content until it was opened, Ayana. But I could perceive the scent before even entering the room where the man was." Morgana explained and Ayana knew there's no use making excuses.
"You must ignore him. There's something wrong and we cannot let it ruin our plan. We only have 2 and a half years left, so it's better we stay off trouble, your highness." Ayana said and bowed her head, believing she had been so blunt.
Her words were not really different from scolding Morgana and straightforwardly telling her what to do.
Morgana smiled at her.
"Ayana, I'm not weak. I might choose not to use my powers because I blamed them for my current condition, but I won't hesitate to use it on someone that poses a threat to our goal. And thankfully, he's not family to my madame."
Morgana's response made Ayana breathe a sigh of relief, but deep inside, she knew if the man was indeed who they thought he was, Morgana just bluffed.
Ayana vows to herself to make sure to prevent the sardine man from swaying her Princess.
With that thought in mind, she smiled at Morgana sweetly, but their mind couldn't be rid of weariness of possible trouble coming.
"Morgana!"
They heard Sarah's voice and Morgana quickly got up.
"Let's not think about this, your highness and please avoid the man. Aside from the possibility that he's..." Ayana shook her head, not wanting to say such nonsense.
Morgana smiled at her cuteness.
"I don't want you to be killed by Madam Sarah in this world like the last one." Ayana said and Morgana nodded her head.
Morgana turned to leave, but Ayana stopped her.
"Your tears." She said and stood up, tiptoeing to reach Morgana's face and licked the remainder of her tears away.
"Gosh! You two!" Lola exclaimed, quickly poking her head back out.
"At least close the door." She whined.
"Anyway, should I go help Madam Sarah?" She asked.
"Thank you, Lola. I will go." Morgana said and left the room.
