The only way to possibly satisfy the conditions of "preventing the enemy from knowing their location" and "rescuing the matriarch" was to bank on Torture Elder Gao Dau defeating the opponent that had dragged him away for a duel. Unfortunately, it wasn't looking too good for the aforementioned elder.
