Given that the meeting had ended faster than she expected, Jeol immediately called Seneos as soon as Gumiho re-entered the room. Yet, her dear best friend wouldn't answer. Either he was drinking, or he was in a bad situation.
He wouldn't be drinking with all that was happening, so he was definitely just unable to answer at the moment. She messaged him and smirked as a response came a dozen minute or so later.
[ Can't answer calls. Getting chased by fucking Japanese. Gotta have big talk when possible. Learned what my path was, jack of all trades. Know what it is ? ]
Her smirk quickly turned into a scowl. Japanese? How did he end up getting chased by foreigners in the middle of Seoul?
Nevertheless, she went over her own knowledge and couldn't remember ever hearing about such a path. She searched through the one thing she hated having to trust, the internet, and found only rumors about it. 'The cursed path', many called it.
Since she couldn't find a satisfying answer there, she decided to abuse her newly acquired power a bit and fumbled through the files of the KHG. She could go even deeper now, having gained access to a whole new mine of information. Efforts did pay off in the end, even if it took entirely too long to reach that level.
Her eyes skimmed over hundreds of reports until she found something interesting. The interesting part being the fact that it had been written by Gumiho of all people. She grabbed her phone and messaged back.
[Found file on it. Written by Gumiho too. Jack of all trades is a dangerous path. Allows you to access all paths, but have to unlock them one by one. Mastering those paths is like anyone having them naturally, the unlocking part is the hardest. Found only one example of unlocking. To unlock knight path, have to face an enemy that has the path or fights in the same way, can also simply learn how people with path fights and try to reproduce it. Success not guaranteed. ]
She hoped it would help him, even if only slightly. She had to admit that path was quite scary, as it presented a lot of advantages. However, she couldn't find enough information on the unlocking part to really form a definitive opinion. From what she read, it was as infuriating as unlocking a secondary path was. It was all so...Random, and dictated by will and luck. She hated that. She was the master of her life and would never want to depend on such fickle things.
Perhaps Seneos would be able to do it. He needed to anyway, it was his greatest chance to become powerful. In some sick way, she almost envied him. However, her true feelings were locked deep inside her heart, never to rear their ugly heads.
While Jeol started to work on various projects of hers, Seneos had finished reading the message and was already leaving the ruin that had hid him. The Japanese hunters had been tired of running in circles, and finally retreated. It was crazy how that ruin that usually served as a lair to criminals or drug addicts helped him so much.
"Guess I am something of a criminal myself, now. Damn...That actually sounds bad, a bit." He told himself as he walked in the not so busy streets of Seoul. That part of the city wasn't really appreciated by people, and the ruin he just left was the main reason. Not the ruin itself, but more what had caused it to look like that. Fear remained in people for years before it slowly faded away.
The calm of the streets allowed him to dive into his mess of a mind, and gather his thoughts.
"Vodka, you read the message too, right? What do you think I should do?" He asked the invisible being whom he guessed was 'walking' beside him. It was quite good to have someone to depend on, or at least someone else than Jeol. She was always either angry or overwhelming.
" It seems to me like this path is a wild card. The unlocking process appears to be random, too random. Based on....Luck and will, I would say. The knight path however is one of the most common ones. It shouldn't be that hard to unlock. I would say perhaps....Watch videos of hunters when you are not inside dungeons yourself, to see how they fight. While you are inside dungeons, mimic them, and most importantly...It could seem weird, but I do think you should always focus on wishing to unlock the path. It seems to me, from the limited data I possess, that will is important. As though there was something listening to you, and granting your wishes once it was satisfied with your will to go beyond. " The guide explained. Seneos nodded and tapped on his phone. He had opened an app that most low-rank hunters used these days. It wasn't all that trustworthy, but it was still useful.
It had been created by the KHG and showed all dungeons located in a fixed radius around the user of the app. Seneos had selected some options to make sure only low-rank and available dungeons were shown. Luckily enough, there was a dungeon available not that far away from his location.
The app showed various information on the dungeons, and one such information caught his eye.
'...A basic dungeon that is already being conquered by non-affiliated hunters....Damn I ain't the only one desperate to scrap some coins I guess. Though this time I am going there to really become stronger....Ahhh, my heart!'
He could actually feel his heart pulse in his ears. The rush of excitement was so good, Seneos got lost in his own little world as he made his way towards the dungeon. If he wasn't in public, he would be jumping happily like some sort of deer. It was the first time ever since he became a hunter that he would enter a dungeon and would be more excited than fearful.
He was so happy, he hadn't even bothered to check what kind of creatures were inside the dungeon. Not that it mattered, he wasn't a high-ranking hunter anyway. He didn't have different pieces of equipment for different types of creatures or dungeons.
As he arrived at the dungeon gate, which was located on the parking lot of a hospital he saw that just as the app said, there were a lot of hunters. They were all low ranks, obviously, like him. However, they all wore some actual decent armor. Not everyone wasted their savings on alcohol it seemed.
Most of them had basic light leather armors, but some had bits of iron or steel on their armors, some also had capes. Usually, all capes wore by hunters were enchanted, since no one would bother to wear something so useless if it didn't have the slightest use in a dungeon. Monsters didn't exactly care about looks after all.
Given the vibrant green glow he saw on most capes, he could tell that they had all been enchanted recently by a healing mage. He spotted the culprit quickly and gasped loudly.
'Wait a damn second...'
The hunters around looked at him oddly as he rushed towards the healer in question, who seemed as though he wanted to erase his presence as much as possible.
He put a hand on the man's shoulders and cleared his throat, forcing the mage to turn around.
They both took a step back as two hands were lifted, fingers were pointed at the other. They both spoke at the same time.
"Aren't you...."
"Mister Porter!?"
