Thana narrowed her eyes at the man wearing the weird uniform. Her eyes switch from his face to his bum and back to his shocked expression. She pushes away the unnecessary distraction right by her sight as she blurts out, taking the strangers by surprise.
"You- You made all that terrible noise!" she points at him with fierceness and annoyance burning in her eyes. The uniformed man glances at the ground, at the plates he had accidentally dropped, and back at the young lady accusing him with a shaking finger.
"I- Well, I didn't-" the man stuttered as if he had forgotten how to speak. He frantically looks to his mother for help but could only sigh when he sees that she's still smiling uncaringly toward the unknown girl. It's as if his mother had known her for a long time when in reality, they saved someone who could have attempted to infiltrate the castle.
Thana caught the old lady's disturbing stare and looked at her up and down before saying, "why were you calling me Adelaide? My name isn't Adelaide."
"That's the name you screamed before you woke up, dear. But if it isn't your name, then what shall we call you?" the lady asks kindly, pulling a wooden stool near her so she can sit down. Thana sees that she's holding a broom in her right hand, in a way as if she was going to hit someone with it.
"Thana, Thana Davis."
After replying to the unfamiliar lady, Thana looked around the place in confusion. She's in pretty ample space, big enough to fit a simple bedroom and a kitchen joined together without any wall for separation.
The walls are white-painted concrete, but there are signs that the building is old by the looks of large cracks on every wall. The arched-shaped roof is too low for Thana's liking, and there isn't much natural light coming in apart from one window.
Nevertheless, Thana could still breathe in such a place. And she realizes that the lady took care of her wounds with bandages. Thana is no longer dirty with mud and dead leaves; she's wearing a clean white nightgown that is too big for her.
Thana feels comfortable being in bed with clean sheets and a soft mattress. But her head still aches, and it only worsens when she discovers something peculiar.
"Everyone hold!" she exclaims, hissing loudly when the uniformed man drops the pieces of shattered glass he collected. The lady glares at him before looking back at Thana, asking in concern, "is there something wrong, Thana?"
"Why- why does everything here look old? The interior, the furniture, and you people," she carelessly says, seeing the lady's face drop.
The uniformed man scoffs at her callous comment before replying angrily, "Excuse me? Mother, why did we save this rude girl? We should report her right now while she's still injured. She could be a witch!"
"I'm clearly not a witch, you wanker!" Thana snaps at the man who doesn't even look much older than she is; he must only be the same age as the man she saw in the middle of the woods. The naked man that never left her mind.
The uniformed man placed both his hands on his waist and glared at her, "What's a wanker? Did you dare to insult me? How dare you insult someone of-"
"That's enough, Elias!"
Both Elias and Thana went silent in an instant. The same thought runs through their minds; they did not like each other from the moment they opened their mouths, and they could never like each other in the future. They had established that in their minds and through the invisible electricity they're passing on with their eyes.
"So your name is Elias huh," Thana mumbles under her breath, looking gloomily at the man with a funny attire. Elias only did the same until he winces in pain when his mother throws a spoon at his head.
"Mother Teresa, why!" Elias complains, rubbing his head.
Thana looks at the lady with wide eyes at what she has done to his own son and asks out of burning curiosity, "just who are you, people?"
"Young lady, my name is Teresa Giles, and that's my son, Elias Giles. I understand that you're confused and lost. It is expected, judging by how different you are from us, that I say after inspecting your clothes-"
"My clothes? What about my clothes?" with eyebrows knitting together, Thana asks the lady wearing a gown. She finds their clothing weird, as if they live in a Victorian period.
Elias decided to let out an audible snort before commenting, "the scandalous clothing you decided to wear."
"Scandalous?" Thana coughs out a laugh in between her words, "if there's anything scandalous, that will be your attire. Who in the world wears that now? You look perplexingly ridiculous."
"Ridiculous? I'm the captain of my unit, and you dare disrespect me?" purplish veins popped from the side of Elias' neck from the storm that's forming inside of him. He could only wish in his mind that the young lady never should have woken up.
Thana rolls her eyes and mocks him by saying, "aye-aye, captain."
"That's it," Elias draws his sword that Thana decided to look past when she first saw him, and he points it at her, "I will not be ridiculed any further by a mere foreigner."
Thana's heart quickened when the sharp blade glinted as the light touched it. She could lose consciousness again at the sight of it, but she tries and puts on a brave front. Pulling the sheets off of her, she swings both her legs to get off the bed.
When her feet touch the wooden ground, both Thana and Elias gasped simultaneously when the sleeves of her nightgown slipped because of its size, revealing her bare shoulders. Elias drops his sword, covering his eyes and looking away from the lady while Thana holds her dress up.
"Mother! How could you dress her in that!" Elias screams, turning a deep shade of red. He hides his embarrassment away, eyeing the door and thinking whether he should make the run for it.
Thana breaks into fits of laughter, "what in the actual hell?"
