The roof was not painted and I could see what damage the water had caused in the cement. Twice it had rained for as long as I had been here and I had noted all the leaking spots here. With a few dresses that I had, Lala had made sure to keep them in a place where they would stay safe and not catch the moths.
I sighed and snuggled into the thin blanket. I did not provide me with much warmth. In fact, I did not provide me any warmth. It was only what Lala could afford and I did not have the hard to tell her that was just not enough.
I was about to fall asleep when I heard something. Someone screamed and that made my eyes snap open instantly. Were the soldiers here too? Were they looking for us again?!
Last time, Lala had remembered to wake me up, but what if she was sleeping herself? She was the one who worked, not me so it was understood. If she was tired I did not hear the noise.
