Giving him an embarrassed smile, I replied, "I am a princess by birth, Tristan. I have been conditioned to never say it because it was never required. Also, I never thought that we would end up together."
"No, do not lie to me." He shook his head, his eyes hard instany, "in your heart, he knew I would never let you go. You just refused to accept it."
Now, I might be laying out my heart in front of him, but I was not ready to admit that I was stupid to ignore that.
