I almost fell asleep by the time Diwal came. It did not help that the wound on the right side of my neck had me take medicines that made me sleepy. But I still have something important to do.
"Must we do this?" He spoke cautiously and did not raise his voice as we stepped down the staircase, "what if someone catches us?"
I stopped for a moment in shock, "Would someone catch us? Did you not make sure?"
He looked at me, startled. "No, I did. It is very late into the night and humans usually are in very deep sleep which is why they take a quick feeding."
"And the guards in the dungeons?"
He gulped. " . . . Not sure about them." He admitted and I gaped at him in shock.
"What!" I spat. "Do you not remember what happened when we visited Marilyn?"
He opened his mouth but then closed it. His eyes darted around the room as he tried to find an excuse. "Maybe . . I could send a maid to them? Like someone is called them?"
