Conrad did not like what I said. From where I was standing and understood it seemed like something was holding Conrad back from answering make the way he truly wanted to. Open his mouth once but close the short again. Probably wondering what would be the correct thing to say here.
"Please, your highness," he grated out, "We must take the man out of hair safely because that is what you have asked me to do. I am to complete the task and return."
"No," I shook my head, "Tell me what I want to know."
He tightened his jaw and looked away for a second before returning to me. He opened his mouth to say something exhausted narrowed his eyes and looked above us.
A thunder of footsteps was heard and my heart stilled at that.
