Chapter 9 - 9 Guellin's Request

[Artiodactyla Language Learned!]

"What the? How?" Urie was confused to see the interface appear in front of him.

[Artiodactyla Language]

[Description: The language used by the beasts which belong to the Artiodactyla Order, a kind of beast possessing four limbs and a pair of antlers.]

After Urie finished reading the interface, he saw a pair of hooves in front of him and when he looked up; he saw a deer beast in front of him with pink crystalline leaves on its antlers and some glowing fruits.

"If it isn't the Connoisseur and his companion! Good thing that you came here!" The deer spoke out of nowhere.

Urie understood every word while Arie was left there standing, looking at the two communicating towards each other.

Urie looked at the hovering interface above the deer beast.

[Guellin, ???]

HP: ???/???

[Description: ???]

He saw nothing but a bunch of question marks and the name of the beast.

A ring echoed in their minds as they heard the notification ring of their interface.

"Scam! Why didn't they put the Quest Series Indicator earlier!" Urie cursed when he saw that they only finished the half of the quest.

"Hey, brother! What's with the sudden appearance of the Quest Series Indicator? Is this a story quest?" Aerie asked his brother the moment they saw the indicator.

"Forgive me for interrupting your discussion with your companion, but I have a request for you!" Guellin spoke to Urie and looked at him.

After Urie read the description, he nodded and shared the quest with his brother.

"Thank you for accepting the quest! I'll wait for your news at this exact place!" Guellin nodded as the crystalline leaves on its antlers glistened in the few lights that passed through the leaves.

It left the two brothers dumbfounded when they saw Guellin disappear from their sight, leaving them clueless as to what needed to be done.

"What about the other quest, brother? Do you have any idea what we need to do to finish that?" There's only 2 hours left and I don't want to have that penalty, whatever that is!" Arie anxiously asked his brother.

"I still don't have a clue on how to finish that quest, but I think it has something to do with this quest!" Urie answered as he looked at his brother.

"Then what are we waiting for? We don't have any time to waste!" Arie immediately pulled his brother away from the site where they saw Guellin.

They roamed all around, trying to find the clues that they needed to finish Guellin's request.

15 minutes passed when they found nothing but the mist in front of them and the bunch of trees.

"If we don't have leads to where the clues are, we will most likely fail the quest!" Arie worriedly told his brother.

"I think we are looking too far, shouldn't we minimize our search into a small area, or how about finding the source of this mist?" Urie suggested, but he suddenly realized that his suggestion is what they really needed to do.

They summoned all the bird beasts they had as they all flew high in the sky, finding the possible source of the mist.

The four aerial beasts came back in a few seconds as Hagin found out something and led the group in a direction deeper inside the forest.

From there, they saw a gigantic log lying in a wide open space as mist was coming out from inside the log.

Urie prepared by summoning Baragon in case there are ambushes that might happen, Baragon is there to back up immediately.

They peered inside the log and saw a gray fur lying inside the log where a seed was placed, which caused the emission of the mist that covered the entire forest.

A series of rings echoed inside their heads as interfaces simultaneously appeared in front of them.

Urie leveled up thrice as a light surrounded him, and Arie experienced the same phenomena as what his brother does.

The exp points given by the Area Quest are bountiful enough, plus the items that it gave.

"Before looking at the rewards, we need to go back to Guellin first and finish everything once and for all!" Urie instructed as they returned to the gigantic stump, but they hadn't seen Guellin there.

"Are you sure that it said that we should meet it here?" Arie asked.

"I'm absolutely sure that Guellin said that we should meet it here! Why isn't it appearing?" Urie asked.

"Wait, brother! I think I know where it is!" Arie exclaimed while looking at his interface.

"Where?" Urie asked.

"The quest! It said that we should return to Guellin at the Serene Lake of the Wise! I think that's the lake we saw earlier!" Arie informed.

"Okay! Let's go!" Urie nodded, and they went to the lake where they saw Guellin's muddy tracks.

As soon as they appeared at the lake, they saw Guellin standing at a boulder in the middle of the lake while the other beasts were surrounding it.

"We came back!" Urie shouted, and he startled all the beasts that they all dived deep into the lake.

"You scared them brother!" Arie scolded his brother.

"It's okay, my dear friends! They won't hurt you!" Guilin consoled as the beasts emerged from the water and surrounded Guellin again, though they looked at Urie with worry.

"I apologize for the rudeness. We gathered the clues about what's happening in this forest!" Urie informed it.

"I'm listening." Guilin simply replied as Urie told about the gigantic log, the mist, the seed, and the fur.

"Granicus! It's that thing again! Anyway, thank you for helping me investigate this forest. As a reward, please accept this!" Guilin's antlers glowed with the leaves refracting its light, making it look astonishing.

A pair of books appeared in front of the two with five pieces of leaves attached to it.

"If you ever needed my help, just put a leaf in your compendiums and I'll immediately come! I'll leave now to take that seed away from here and to cleanse this forest!" Guellin nodded as it disappeared.

The series of notifications rang inside their head as a certain interface caught Urie's sight.
