Chapter 18 - Queen Mother's Love

The banquet was subsequently halted after that incident. Nobody knew what truly happened and what the cause of that dark cloud. However, Queen Seria understood the real culprit of this incident.

Because she knew the only one who could create the exact same dark cloud. After the guests returned home, Queen Seria used her holy white cape. She hurriedly climbed the spiral staircase towards the top of the tower, where her second son was chained.

But when she reached the top, there was someone else there, standing in front of the door with hostility in his eyes.

"Ignis? Why are you here?" Queen Seria asked her first son. She approached her son carefully and stood beside him, staring at the holy seal on the door. The holy seals were specifically crafted for Corvus, so he would be trapped forever inside this tower.

Ignis ignored his mother. He crossed his arm and inspected the holy seal on the door. "The holy seals seems to be working. How about the holy seal on top of the tower? Is it still in good condition, Queen Mother?"

Queen Seria nodded. She also inspected the holy seals. As a human with light magic affinity, she could see the holy seals' glow, showing that the holy seals were indeed active. "It should be. But the dark cloud and gust that would suck your breath away…"

"Only this bastard can do that. Maybe he got strong enough to break the holy seal," Ignis accused. He clenched his fist, and fire engulfed his fist.

"Don't call your brother a bastard," Queen Seria warned. She cupped Ignis' fist with her gentle hand and put out the fire on his fist. Ignis glanced at his mother and mocked her;

"What reason are you making in your head right now? Queen Mother, you know well there is no use of keeping him. Do you want this kind of accident to happen in the future? This is just a small scale of his danger, Queen Mother."

Queen Seria tried to ignore Ignis because she knew what Ignis said was correct. There was no denial nor rebuttal. Corvus Lunaris was really a dangerous man. He killed the king and the little princess. He also caused many unexpected dangerous situations.

It was crystal clear that keeping him alive was no use.

But Queen Seria was a mother. No matter how cruel she could be with the palace intrigues, she wouldn't kill her own son. Especially if her son didn't really mean all the danger, he caused.

Ignis watched how his mother had a soft spot for Corvus. He scoffed, "Corvus really is your favourite child. No wonder your judgement is clouded, Queen Mother."

Ignis kicked the door open without warning, which surprised Queen Seria. She held Ignis' arm. "Stay here! I don't want you to hurt your little brother!"

Ignis was already pissed enough that his mother always took on Corvus' side and protected him. They knew well he was the source of evil. Why couldn't she let go?

As Ignis took one step in, Queen Seria hurriedly blocked Ignis' path with her body. "Ignis! Listen to your mother and stay put!"

"You know that I despise you for being too attached, right?" Ignis said to his mother, seeing how his mother was trying her hardest to stop him, Ignis felt the bitterness and perhaps, also some jealousy for that bastard brother. Even after that guy already committed the biggest sin a human could ever do, his mother still stayed and defended him.

Ignis took a deep breath. He needed to find his own solace before he went crazy to kill his brother. "Fine! I will leave now, but tell that bastard not to mess with anything! I don't want him to hurt anyone I truly cared for!"

Ignis turned his back and walked away, leaving Queen Seria alone with the opened door. Queen Seria looked towards the direction where a silhouette was cowering in the corner inside the room. She took a deep breath and chanted her protection spell again, "With the gentle light of an angel, shall my body unperishable against the evil, witches, and the dark magic."

A light dome appeared around Queen Seria, and she entered the room.

"Corvus, my son…"

The big monster with his body full of raven feathers shook and shrunk even further to the corner once he heard Queen Seria called him. Miasma started forming around his body, like a barrier that would kill anyone who dared to come near.

With her light affinity, Queen Seria could see the appearance of her son currently. His body and his face were covered with raven feathers. His face looked hideous with a black beak as his mouth.

When his eyes glared at Queen Seria, the Queen couldn't help but tremble slightly. Because even she got scared by looking at her own son. Queen Seria collected herself after a moment and said, "My son, can you tell me what happened?"

Corvus didn't directly answer. He glanced at his mother and noticed the light protection around her body. Corvus lowered his gaze, and the miasma got thicker. "I cannot control myself… I am sorry…"

"Corvus, tell me the reason why you cannot control yourself. Did something happened?" Queen Seria asked. Corvus was not like this before. Although he was dangerous, he wouldn't let himself get out of control and harm others intentionally.

Corvus shook his head and lowered his head, refusing to answer.

"Corvus?" Queen Seria approached her son, about to touch him with her hands;

"Leave, I don't want to hurt anyone…" Corvus said. A dark gust subconsciously hit Queen Seria's hand, a warning for her not to touch Corvus.

Knowing the danger was too much, Queen Seria sighed and left the room. She locked the door again and checked the holy seals.

The holy seals were still holding well. She put an enchantment to fortify the seal. "By the graceful light of the angels, may the evil be chained forever under your domain."

The holy seal was fortified, and she could hear the painful cry of her son inside his room, which was normal whenever she strengthened the seal.

Queen Seria clenched her pained chest, it was really hard for her, but Corvus might actually kill someone again if she didn't do this.

"Why can't you open up to me, my son? I really want you to be a normal human once more…"
