Chapter 196 - Unfinished Bussiness

The soft hum of discussions filled the briefing room as Thomas, accompanied by his trusted companions, entered. The atmosphere shifted from casual exchanges to a more focused energy as the individuals settled into their seats.

Thomas had previously divulged the existence of the Silver-eyed being and outlined his plans for the universe. While some found the tale difficult to believe, the evidence of Thomas's extraordinary abilities, coupled with the living proof of Gaia within him, silenced doubts.

The room bore an air of anticipation and resolve. Ye Kan, the immortal cultivator from another realm, stood clad in traditional cultivator attire, a robe of azure hue adorned with intricate gold embroidery. His sword, a gleaming masterpiece, rested at his waist—an emblem of a warrior bound by ancient traditions.

Katherine, her eyes reflecting a mix of curiosity and concern, chimed in, "What about Pantheon? Any issues we should address?"

Clarisse, leaning back in her chair, raised an eyebrow. "Yeah, Thomas, how's the grand city doing?"

Lulu, the diplomatic face of Pantheon, reported on the city's thriving cultural exchange and the successful integration of various races. "The Golden Pride Lions continue to maintain order, and the Pantheon Golden Police ensure that our laws are upheld. The city is becoming a melting pot of traditions and innovations."

Thomas delved into the logistics of Titanos Foundation. "Our technological ventures are gaining traction. The Titanos Foundation has sponsored educational programs, and the advancements in magic-technology integration are becoming widely accepted. or now the only troublemakers we have are humans who can't accept they have to share a city with beasts and other races."

Clarisse's mother, ever the pragmatist, added, "I believe it will take some time for them to get used to it."

Thomas nodded, acknowledging the challenge. "Change is a process, and we'll guide Pantheon through it."

Clarisse, with her playful tone, interjected, "By the way, Thomas, are those clothes the same you have been wearing since you first arrived more than a year ago?"

A mischievous glint sparkled in Thomas' eyes. "These clothes of mine are a little something I got in Lulu's home world. It can repair itself, resist heat and cold and never smells or gets dirty."

"I certainly would love something like that." The red-head Sebastian Krahl interjected.

Laughter filled the room, dispelling any lingering tension.

As the banter subsided, Thomas steered the conversation toward the business at hand. "In three months, I'll embark on a be leaving on a journey once more. However, I won't be using the Nexus; it's too unpredictable. Instead, I'm upgrading the Luminous Ark to perform space jumps."

Ye Kan, the enigmatic cultivator, spoke in his composed manner. "Space jumps? A practical choice, considering the unpredictability of dimensional travel."

Thomas affirmed with a determined look. "Indeed, the upgrades will make the Luminous Ark capable of traversing the cosmos with precision. It's a step toward greater exploration and understanding."

Alice, with her usual thirst for knowledge, inquired, "What about the cosmic entity? How does this tie into our broader goals?"

Thomas, appreciating the thoughtful question, explained, "The being with silver eyes orchestrates a complex scheme. By strengthening realms through conflict, it aims to enhance the overall power of every race. Other than that I don't believe he will interfere with our plans unless it threatens his own."

In the following days, Thomas immersed himself in his workshop, a space filled with arcane symbols, enchanting devices, and the ever-transforming Luminous Ark. Composed of three thousand mirrors, the artifact could morph into battle armor, a drill, a shuttle, or even an interplanetary cannon.

The reason for his sudden interest in returning to the demon domain was that while in the underground crystal chamber, he did some calculations based on the sky breach in London and reached the conclusion his dad and brother were indeed somewhere in the demon domain. He also had unfinished business' at the place and other things to settle with the violet moon empress.

He also promised to look for Ye Kan's home world and that would also take some time not to mention his future journey into the higher realms, but before that he would first need to assimilate all the deities in the first layer of the system.

The upgrade focused on space manipulation and spatial runes, a field of study that pushed Thomas's understanding of the mystical arts. He meticulously integrated these newfound insights into the mirrors, enhancing the Ark's capabilities.

The Pathfinder device, once a tool for navigating the dimensional nexus, underwent a profound transformation. It now served as a mapping and interstellar travel system, charting the vast cosmos for the journey ahead.

Throughout this intricate process, Thomas's friends visited the workshop. Ye Kan, Alice, Katherine, and others dropped by, offering support or engaging in discussions about the mysteries of space. Clarisse, however, became a constant presence, providing emotional support during the demanding work.

One evening Clarisse entered through the door early in the morning, her crimson hair glinting in the ambient glow. She observed Thomas, the weight of their impending separation already casting a shadow on her features.

As Thomas adjusted a complex array of spatial runes, he felt a surge of emotions, a blend of anticipation, uncertainty, and the underlying pressure of his newfound responsibilities. Sensing Clarisse's presence, he decided to open up, to share the depth of his feelings.

He paused, turning to face her. "Clarisse, there's something I need to share with you," Thomas began, his voice carrying the weight of vulnerability. "Being a deity, holding the memories of countless others, sometimes it feels like a torrent of conflicting emotions and identities. The memories of the deities, their triumphs, their regrets—they echo within me, and at times, it becomes hard to discern where I end and they begin."

Clarisse approached, her eyes reflecting understanding. "Thomas, you don't have to bear it all alone," she said softly.

Thomas, overcome by the emotional tumult within him, knelt down, looking up at Clarisse. "It's like I carry the collective weight of history, of countless lives. I want to be a force for good, but sometimes I'm not sure if I'm doing justice to the legacies I hold."

Clarisse, without a word, walked up to Thomas and enveloped him in a warm embrace. The room seemed to fade away as she held him, offering solace and understanding. In that shared silence, they communicated more than words ever could.

Breaking the embrace, Thomas looked into Clarisse's eyes. "Thank you," he whispered, his gratitude sincere.

Clarisse smiled, a gentle reassurance. "You're not alone in this, Thomas. We'll find our way together."

They chatted a little more, sharing thoughts about the journey ahead and the bond they had forged. In the midst of their conversation, Clarisse dropped a surprising revelation. "My mother and I, we're leaving too. There's something we need to attend to in our world."

Thomas, though taken aback, understood and gave her a shot kiss on the lips. "I wish you the best, Clarisse. And thank you, for being here when I needed it the most."

With a final exchange of glances, Clarisse and Thomas parted ways, each stepping onto a different path. As the Luminous Ark shimmered with the energy of its upgrade, the departure drew near.

**********

On the day of departure, the landing station next to the towering Babel tower became the stage for a momentous farewell. The Luminous Ark, once a familiar sight, now stood transformed. Its shuttle formation had expanded significantly, now able to accommodate over a dozen people comfortably.

The once sleek and compact design had expanded into a vessel of cosmic grandeur. The surface of the ark now shimmered with an otherworldly luminescence, a kaleidoscope of shifting colors that never stopped. The framework of the ark bore numerous spatial runes connected to the artifact`s core, weaving an intricate tapestry of runes that seemed to pulse with latent power.

The shuttle's wings, once modest, now stretched majestically, showcasing an ethereal elegance reminiscent of a celestial being in flight. The glow emanating from the wingtips hinted at the integration of advanced propulsion and navigational enchantments.

Luxurious seating arrangements adorned with plush materials awaited passengers, and there were even designated areas for collaboration and leisure.

Strategically placed along the hull were offensive array formations, unobtrusive yet formidable, equipped with the latest in protective enchantments.

The departure of Thomas, Lulu, and Ye Kan stirred a mix of emotions among the residents of Pantheon City. The landing station buzzed with activity as various figures, both human and non-human, gathered to bid farewell to the departing trio.

Alice, Katherine, and Clarisse stood together, their expressions a blend of pride and concern. Alice, her cybernetic enhancements glinting in the Martian sunlight, spoke first. "Thomas, you better come back with even more stories. We'll hold the fort here."

Katherine, the strategist, offered a salute. "Safe travels, Thomas. Pantheon City will be waiting for your return."

Clarisse, standing close to Thomas, grasped his hand tightly then blew him a kiss. "Come back in one piece, okay? And bring some exciting souvenirs from the Demon Domain."

Thomas smiled, a mixture of gratitude and determination in his eyes. "I'll make sure to find something special for each of you. Take care, and keep our city thriving."

Lulu and Ye Kan were also met with farewells from familiar faces. The members of the Golden Pride Lions, including Chief Jarek Stone, acknowledged Lulu's departure with respect.

"Goodbye Chief Lulu, I will protect Pantheon." Chief Stone said, his lion's face showing a rare hint of emotion.

As the time to board the Luminous Ark approached, more individuals came forward. Sebastian Krahl, the former Deputy Head of the Adept Association, approached Thomas. "You've changed the game, Thomas. Make sure to bring back knowledge from the Demon Domain. We'll be keeping an eye on things here."

With final goodbyes exchanged, the trio ascended the ramp into the Luminous Ark. The platform retracted, and the vessel's engines hummed to life. As the ark lifted into the Martian sky, the crowd watched in silence, a mixture of hope and uncertainty in their hearts.

The departure marked not just the journey of three individuals but a continuation of the cosmic tale that Thomas had become an integral part of. The Luminous Ark set its course for the enigmatic realms of the Demon Domain.
