Chapter 84 - Thomas and Kan

Arriving on the cave Thomas used to breakthrough, he turned around. "This place is better than there, now what you remember of happening?"

Kan looked at the colorful rings of light around the rift before, then spoke in low voice. "Some guys were after me. On the way, I stumbled and fell on a hole and once I wake up, I was already here."

'These ruins, trees, even the sky looks different. This is not the golden dragon empire so where...' At this point Kan understood the hole he fell in must have transported him somewhere else. Thomas as the only native he was able to find may know better than him so he decided to ask. "So where am I now? This place is unlike anything I have seen."

Now, Thomas hesitated. "Well, I believe this is not even the world you know. Come here quick." Thomas brough the youth Kan out of the cave and pointed at another part of the sky, where a faint blue silhouette was seen from afar.

"See that, that blue sphere is the world I was born in. And this place here is mars, the second world in the domain of my people. If my conjectures are right, you must be from some world far away similar to these beasts. They all fell from that rift just like you."

"..." The young man didn't react, he only stood in place for a moment digesting what he heard before calming down. "Another world, I see... Maybe its for the best if I don't return. So brother, what can you tell me about this world."

Even Thomas was surprised by his mental fortitude and found it admirable he could recover this quick. "Actually there is a lot. This world is facing invasions from numerous sides because of these rifts. We have adepts, those with extraordinary powers that help defend our cities against these creatures..."

In this short time, Thomas proceed to tell some stories about this world, then Kan would say something about his as well.

It was when Thomas came to know Kan didn't just look like a character in the oriental fantasy worlds, he lived in this fantasy world. As the son of a powerful clan that managed the White Feather City of the Golden Dragon Empire, he embarked on the path of cultivation at the age of six, awoke his battle chi at 8, completed the body refinement at 10 and at 15 opened his spirit sense reaching initial stages of the Foundation Establishment Realm.

He was famous throughout the city, yet he suffered a injury which kept him stuck at the initial phase of the Foundation Establishment Realm.

Most of the terms used by Kan sounded foreign to Thomas who only saw those things in dramas and novels. On Kan's side he was also surprised by the tales told by this mixed-hair youth. From his three years of solitude and rejection from others to his awakening as a adept, inheriting the power of a demon then losing all he strived for as an adept.

Hearing all of this from Thomas made Kan feel somewhat connected to the youth as both formed a connection between friends.

Seeing it was somewhat late, Thomas got up and turned to Kan. "Its late, so why don't I bring you to see how a modern city looks like?"

Hearing about seeing the how the cities Thomas described made Kan excited. "Right away. I'm deeply interested about this world which you told me about."

Both of them prepared to head out of the forest when Thomas froze.

"What is it friend?"

Thomas made a sign for him to stay silent. "Shhh. I hear human voices."

Spreading his senses, Thomas detected over thirty squad of adepts patrolling the outer regions of the forest. He immediately realized his advancement to level 2 must have attracted all this attention to the forest.

"It will be a pain to explain things if we are found so we better find another way out. Fortunately, I have other means of escaping..." Thomas laughed as he took a yellow paper out of his pocket which made his companion startled.

"Spatial Transmission Talisman? Brother, are you a Inscriptions Master!?"

"Something like that. Hold onto me." Thomas ripped the yellow paper and a dim glow spread from the torn paper to the rest of his body. Without questioning, Kan grabbed Thomas' shoulder with his right hand as both of them vanished into thin air.

Appearing in the living room of Thomas' house, Kan nearly stumbled upon arriving.

"Thomas? I saw you had left, did you forgot your body's condition?!"

As soon they arrived, Thomas could hear his mom's voice coming from upstairs and he swiftly apologized. "Sorry mom, it was something urgent and I couldn't postpone it."

"Fine, just remember to tell me when you need to leave. Oh and Sweetie, Clarisse still haven't got in touch and she should be heading back by now, can you call her and ask if she will eat here?"

'Sweetie?' Kan, standing by the side held back his laugh and Thomas shot him a fierce stare before responding.

"Yes, I will just go pick my wrist computer than I will go see." Heading to the basement, Thomas grabbed the dark red wrist computer and put it on his arm.

As soon it was turned on, Thomas saw several notifications about messages from the association, other friends, but the only thing he couldn't move his eyes away was a single message he received from Clarisse thirty minutes ago.

[Clarisse: We've been attacked, and the person who did this is looking for you.]

In a instant, Thomas fell a chill and a repulsive baleful aura burst out of his body repelling even Kan who was a fair distance away.

"Brother, are you fine?"

Thomas was frozen in that state, when he suddenly returned to himself. "Er... Sorry, I won't be able to show the city to you at the moment."

Kan noticed by his strange expression and asked in a calm voice. "Is it a girl?"

Thomas didn't respond, but his silence was more than enough confirmation so he pulled out his sword gave a nod. "Since its like this, count me in as well. I may not be a citizen of this world, but I can still fight."
