Casper-sky maneuvers herself around the centipede creature, avoiding any incoming charging attacks from the creature. Whenever the opportunity presents itself, she would shoot with her arm cannon.
Sometimes pods will fall off themselves, landing themselves to the ground. The pods are surprisingly durable despite being shot by her arm cannon. The only thing left she can do is to defeat the Glitch instead of focusing on the smaller ones.
Meanwhile on the ground, Arvast takes a stab on a smaller Glitch, corrupting it before it vanishes into thin air. One of them manages to grab hold of her with its pincer before slamming her to the ground.
Arvast lays on the ground for a moment as more Glitches surround the defeated body, before it becomes black and melts into the ground. They feel their backs being pierce by something before corruption takes over their body. From their shadows, Arvast emerges without any harm on her.
She turns around to see Defender defeats another one of the smaller centipede Glitch with her falchion with a clumsy swing. She supposed that the training didn't happen both due to their busy schedule and her previous depressing mood. She would have to rectify it soon after this is over.
Because right now, her objective is to create ground control and eventually assist in closing the missing portal. She approaches the Defender and Torton by melting into the shadow before emerging from Torton's shadow. "The battle might not end if none of us can take down Mydoom. But Casper-sky cannot do this alone."
Defender glances at Torton's cannon, "Do you have the range to hit it from the sky?" Torton shakes his head with a sigh of regret. "I wish I had that range, but the furthest this cannon can shoot is 500 meters."
The three change their gaze to the sky, watching their commander fighting said Glitch with some trouble. Damages can be seen on the creature, but it is still slithering in the sky without any problem. Casper-sky, on the other hand, seems to intensify her attack on the creature.
"Why is she not using her strongest attack?" Defender asks with some level of concern in her voice. The fact that she could tire herself out could become a problem for the team in the long term. "She could blast it from underneath."
"Mydoom isn't one that she could defeat just by cutting off the head." Torton responds to her question, disproving her initial idea of simply defeating it. "The last time everyone managed to defeat one is by whittle its shell down before blowing it up inside out."
Defender is not discouraged, however. "There has to be a way to take it down quickly…" She racks her brain for possible solutions based on the abilities of her allies. Neither she nor Torton could do anything to the monster as long as they are grounded. Arvast could not help either since she has no flight ability.
Casper-sky is the only one capable of fighting it on an even field, but she has to create a higher ground for them.
'Unless…' She thought to herself before snapping her finger, a hypothesis formed in her mind. "Arvast, can you scan Mydoom from here?"
"Certainly," the black snake nods her head. "But during the scanning, I will be defenseless." With something akin to a plan, Arvast raises her small trident towards the general direction of Mydoom.
Just in time, more pods fall to the ground and hatch smaller Mydooms, ready to fight their biggest threat. The remaining pair of fighters immediately surround Arvast, falling into their fighting stance.
The smaller Mydooms attack the group by stampeding as one, trying to overwhelm them with their numbers. The pair easily dispatch the horde individually, but doing so would still leave plenty of openings for the Glitches.
Defender immediately pulls out Tiger's Bite from the ground and cleaves two Glitches. She clenches her left hand, feeling electricity gathering on her fist. Pulling back her left hand, the electricity crackles wildly before she releases the energy towards the horde.
Electricity connects from one Glitch to another that is near the last one, frying each other in its chain reaction. Seeing her new move works out as she hopes, she returns to focusing on defeating one or two Glitches at a time.
"Duck!" Torton suddenly warns her before feeling intense heat coming towards her. She ducks down to see a stream of fire passing by her head, burning anything coming too close to the source. She stands back up once the flames have passed, noticing smoke coming out of Torton's cannon.
"You can shoot flames?" Defender asks him even if it is rhetorical. The heat from the flames feels more intense than other fires she comes across in her lifetime.
Torton jabs at a burning Glitch that comes too close to him before answering her. "Anything related to fire actually. It's like how you can do anything electric related." He grunts a little from one Glitch getting a hit in before kicking the monster away.
Defender cleaves mindlessly at this point, seeing the seemingly endless waves can be only reduced by quickly dispatching as many of them as possible. The situation cannot tolerate her for any delay in her attacks or else Arvast will lose her concentration.
"Is it just me…" Defender lets out an exhaustive sigh before recuperating herself. "Or there are more of the smaller ones as we clear more waves?" She couldn't help but notice each time there is a new wave, the battle becomes seemingly longer. It could be her exhaustive state but she is known to be observant by her caretakers before.
A flaming punch from Torton defeats another one of the Glitches, and he pauses for a moment in the combat. "I think as we fight, Mydoom drops more of its pods." He crouches and activates his cannon, expelling flames for better crowd control.
Torton's answer gives her a better idea for the situation and it paints the situation, for her, to be more dreadful. She slightly hopes that Arvast would figure out a method soon, before the team's exhaustion catches up.
"It is done!" Arvast suddenly announces and takes a quick stab on the last Glitch. "A simple plan is formulated during my analysis, and I will share it when we are recuperating." The remaining two fighters nod before Defender sits down on the floor. Under the helmet, she is sweating profusely due to all the fighting she has done. Compared to all of her comrades, she has fought the longest.
"So," Torton starts the conversation without a beat. "What's your genius plan here Arvast?" Torton and Defender listen intently as Arvast explains her plan as fast as possible. The background noise of an arm cannon being fired is starting to worry her due to how much time has passed since the beginning of the battle.
When the plan is over, Defender and Torton nod before going their separate ways to get into position. Arvast looks up into the sky to find Casper-sky, who's green hue can be easily seen. She place right hand on where her ear would be while raising her small trident towards the eagle's direction before speaking. "Casper-sky, can you hear me?"
An invisible wave flows through the air, making a beeline towards Casper-sky. When the wave passes by the commander, she hears the message and is slightly confused. Another wave passes by her with another message. "Bait Mydoom to the ground towards Torton. We have formulated a plan to take down Mydoom with the most efficient possible method."
Looking at the ground level, she can see Torton standing on one side in a crouching position with his arms on his knees like a sumo. Defender and Arvast are nowhere to be seen, but she knows the girls will do their part when the time comes.
She returns her attention back to Mydoom, firing some shots on the Glitch's face to gain its attention. When the monster screeches at her and flies towards her, she makes her move. She flies forward for a moment, making sure the creature is following her.
With the monster on her tails, she arches upward, with the monster following her, performing a loop and dives straight down to the earth. She slowly adjusts herself to have her body near the surface level and going towards the direction of Torton.
Torton raises her hands from his knees and brace himself. Just as Casper-sky nearly collides with him, she shoots upward as a green blur. The monster, with no time to reach, barrels straight to the hulking red turtle.
Torton gets hold of the monster and quickly activates his cannon. He struggles to hold onto the Glitch, but his new strength allows him to hold on for long enough to defeat it. With all of his strength, he raises the head of the monster to reveal its mouth.
"Eat fireballs, you centipede!" He relentlessly begins to shoot fireballs into the mouth, burning anything inside the creature. Electricity courses through the monster's body all the sudden, revealing Defender stabbing Tiger's Bite into its 'flesh' and discharging her remaining electricity into it. At the same time, corruption begins to spread over its body thanks to Arvast doing her part.
With all the damage it suffers, the monster eventually fades into motes of blue light, a purple core left in place of it. Torton picks it up and raises it to the air to show the success of their plan.
The battle is finally over for now.
