Chapter 5: The Mars Project
After getting the tips, the courier left the apartment happily.
However, before he could walk far, countless police officers suddenly swarmed out from all directions. All of them were armed. The sound of helicopters could be heard faintly in the sky.
The courier had never seen such a scene before. He raised his hands in surrender. "Don't shoot! Don't shoot! I'm just a courier! No drugs! No drugs!"
A police officer walked in front of him and searched him up and down. He did not find any weapons. He nodded to the others before some of them put down their weapons.
"What did you send that person?"
"A letter. There's a black card in the letter... I don't know what that is. It has nothing to do with me!"
"How did you get this letter?"
"It's from the company... I got this letter from the company and sent it over."
"I checked with your company. There was no such letter! Where did it come from?"
"I sent it from the company! I swear!"
A police officer answered the phone and said to the police officer, "It's true. There's no record of that letter... He's just an ordinary courier."
The officer thought for a moment, "Okay, you can go. But don't leave the city. We can track you at any time. Understand?"
"Yes, yes..."
The courier was scared out of his wits.
In the Geocenter Research Institute outside the Goethe City.
Many scientists gathered together and studied all the manuscripts of the Antimatter Theory overnight.
The more they read, the more exquisite they felt. People kept exclaiming, "Talented idea! Perfect formula!"
They did not sleep, but their spirits were so high that people thought they were in their twenties.
Many people had one foot in the grave. The old man who was about to die looked extremely excited.
Scientists could not be able to understand their feelings.
Doug Jones was especially excited, but there was no emotion on his withered old face. He leaned on a black cane decorated with ivory, straightened his back, and sat on a hardwood chair. His hair made him look like a lion. Everyone was in awe of him and they scuttled away from him.
The manuscript of the Antimatter Theory was already very clear. He took a glance of it and had a feeling that it would succeed.
He could start to make experiments. However, due to his status, he did not need to do the experiment by himself. As long as he waited here, someone would show him the latest experimental data.
After a night of research and calculation.
The research confirmed the method of antimatter extraction.
Just as everyone was still studying, a man in a suit walked in.
He walked to Doug Jones' side and whispered into his ear,
"Mr. President wants to see you."
"What? I'm very busy!"
Doug Jones tapped his cane hard.
"The president knows that you guys have made a breakthrough here and wants to inquire about the situation. You know, the research funding needs to be approved by him. He needs to know why you spend such a huge amount of money."
"Ignorant man!"
Although Doug Jones said so, he still stood up and followed the man in the suit out.
They did not speak on the way.
After walking for a few hundred meters, they came to the elevator. They took the elevator all the way to a floor.
When the man in the suit opened the door, a blonde old man appeared, sitting on a chair and drinking coke with his legs crossed. He was scrolling through Twitter.
As he saw Doug Jones walking over, he put down his phone and pointed at the chair in front of him, "Sit down please."
It was the President.
Doug Jones did not expect him to be here already.
He sat opposite the President with an extremely serious expression. He was so nervous that his heart was in his mouth.
The president saw how serious Doug Jones was, so he straightened and became serious too.
"I find a laboratory in the documents, but I don't know what the scientists are doing in this laboratory. It's even more mysterious than the nuclear button. As the highest leader of this country, I don't know what this research institute is built for. I'm very angry now."
"Science is more mysterious than politics," Doug Jones said lightly.
"Many powerful people embezzled tens of billions of dollars to support scientists like you."
"Are you here for asking us to clear the debt?"
"You must have extraordinary value. If you have no value, why don't the powerful people use this money to support their mistresses?"
The President smiled.
"Since you have value, then it's easy to handle. Valuable people are worthy of respect in any era."
"What do you want?"
"Scientific research results. You've spent so much money. You have to produce results. Otherwise, I won't sign the research funds here. and this place will be bulldozed and maintained as a military base."
"Is military more important than science?"
"The soldiers who can resist the enemy are more important than the scientists who have done nothing."
Doug Jones said calmly, "Antimatter."
"Antimatter?"
"The world's ultimate energy source. If we study it fast enough, we'll be able to enter the space age in less than ten years."
"Are you sure?"
"Yes!"
Doug Jones did not hesitate.
"Okay, I understand."
The president noded without asking any more questions.
After sending off Doug Jones, the President made a phone call.
A few minutes later, a man in a white suit walked in.
"Edward, how about the protection for the man?"
"The president can rest easy. We have already dispatched 3,000 agents to protect him all day and nignt. There will be absolutely no mistakes."
"Our plan has been activated. He will determine the result of all our plans. Set his security level to the highest... No, he should have an unique security level. You must protect him at all costs."
"Yes, sir!"
"The codename of this order is Mars Plan."
"Mars Plan?"
"Perhaps Mars is the planet to be colonized by humans. The success or failure of the plan depends on this person. We must protect him well. No accidents!"
Reidon was under the 24-hour protection of 3,000 agents. The special protection had never been activated in the history of this country.
Edward felt an ultimate responsibility.
He saluted and left the office.
