Chapter 8 - The Assistance

Ushu stirred from her slumber under the tree, finding herself with a rolled cloth pillow beneath her head. She sat up and picked up the cloth, recognizing it as one belonging to Drek. As she looked around, she spotted Drek standing in the distance, gazing at the sunrise on the horizon.

Drek suddenly looked around and noticed Ushu looking at him. "Oh, hello there. You're finally awake. Good morning, Ushu," he greeted warmly.

Ushu suddenly stood up, grabbed the cloth, and ran towards Drek. Feeling a bit embarrassed, she hugged him tightly with her face buried in his cloth. "G-good morning," she mumbled, her voice slightly muffled by the fabric.

Drek patted Ushu's head and asked, "Did you sleep well?"

Ushu unhugged Drek, stepped back, and looked at him, nodding enthusiastically. "Y-yes, I did!" she replied happily.

Drek felt relieved hearing Ushu's response and smiled. "Alright then," he said, stretching out his arms and reaching for Ushu's hand. "Should we go into the village and meet everyone?" he suggested.

Ushu got shocked. "I forgot about that! The village chief wanted to see you... I'm sorry for telling you late," she said, her voice tinged with sadness as she looked to the ground, her eyes a little teary.

Drek kneeled down, gently patting her head, and said, "Don't worry, everything is fine. They will understand that we do need to take a rest sometimes. Let's go there, shall we?"

Ushu began to feel happy and exclaimed, "Yeah! Let's go there!"

Drek and Ushu made their way to the village to meet with the elves they had saved from the barbaric orcs. As they walked into the village, they witnessed the aftermath of the previous night's tragedy. They saw the misery and damage wrought upon the village, with some bodies still piled up on the side, covered by white blankets. They heard the cries of loved ones mourning their losses, observed the scarcity of food, and noticed the multitude of freshly dug graves already filled with bodies.

Drek was overcome by a sudden flashback to his past, remembering a similar event at the stadium. The fury he had felt then surged within him as he witnessed the devastation before him.

"This is outrageous. Where is peace when I need it? Still, the horror is hunting me down," Drek muttered to himself, his frustration palpable.

As they walked through the village, they drew the attention of a young elven boy who noticed them and quickly ran towards a nearby house. This sudden movement caused a commotion among the elves, who began murmuring and whispering to each other. They continued on their path, eventually arriving at the village chief's home, where they found a flurry of activity as elves tended to the wounded.

Suddenly, the commotion at the chief's house ceased as Drek and Ushu approached the doorstep. A wounded elven man, who had been receiving treatment from a female elven nurse, turned his gaze towards Drek. Despite his injuries, he pointed a shaky finger at Drek and whispered, "H-Hero."

Suddenly, all the elves in that specific house transformed the commotion into joyous exclamations as they spotted Drek. "Look, the hero is here!" exclaimed the injured elf with happiness.

Another elf hurriedly woke up a sleeping person, eager for them to see the human who had helped them defeat the orcs. "Hey, wake up! He's here, the hero!" the elf exclaimed to his friend.

"Huh! (shocked) Where? Oh, hero!" the awakened elf exclaimed, suddenly sitting up and wincing from the pain in his body.

Drek suddenly ran towards him, caution in his voice as he said, "Don't move too much. You're not fully healed yet." His words were confident, as he possessed a keen eye that could detect any injuries or signs of danger nearby.

"Yes, I'm sorry. I'll go back to my sleeping position. Thank you for your help. I am still alive, as we are still alive. We owe you so much, our hero," said the elf.

Drek supported the elven man back to his sleeping position and adjusted his blanket. "Yes, please rest," he said gently.

Drek stood up and looked around, noticing a group of elves with moderate injuries. However, his attention was drawn to the more severe cases, where elves were suffering from massive internal injuries and trauma.

Drek couldn't ignore the sounds of pain coming from the elves with severe internal injuries. He felt a strong urge to help them. "I should do something about this matter," Drek said to himself.

"Who is in charge here?" Drek inquired, seeking out someone responsible in the premises.

The atmosphere shifted as Drek spoke, and suddenly, a woman elf stepped forward. "I am in charge of this temporary clinic," she said, bowing respectfully. "What may I help you with, sir hero?" she asked calmly.

"I want to assist with the medical, or should I say healing, process of the elves," Drek said with sincerity in his tone.

"Uh... we have one, it's over there," the incharge of the premises replied, pointing in a direction. "But... wait, what? Eh?" she exclaimed, shocked by what was happening.

Drek swiftly moved in the direction indicated, with Ushu following closely behind him as they entered the designated area.

Drek knelt in front of Ushu and gently touched her shoulders. "Ushu, I want you to wait for me outside. I'll just finish this, and if the chief of the village comes looking for me again, tell him... uh, I'll be there soon, okay?" he said to Ushu with a reassuring tone.

Ushu noded and goes outside, drek stood up and he look to his wrist and swiped the screen a hologram shown.

Drek touches his earpiece. "System, I need you to send me the drones I need," Drek said.

"Yes, Major Drek. All of the assistance drones will be on their way. MBT2 (Medical Bot Tech 2) launching, AEDS (Air Emergency Disembark System) launching, and UTSD (Utility Tools and Support Drone) launching," System declared.

Drek stood in the middle of the room and began gesturing with his hands as if he were sketching in the air, designing the layout for the surgical room. He wanted to ensure it was well-equipped for operating on the elves with severe injuries.

The UTSD immediately went to work, implementing Drek's sketched design for the room. Within minutes, the room had been cleaned and renovated. The missing door was replaced with a new one, and a surgical table was built and positioned in the center. The UTSD also arranged the necessary tools and apparatuses that would be used during the surgeries.

As the drones prepared the room for surgical operations, the temperature dropped noticeably. The AEDS sprang into action, aiding the elven nurses in transferring the severely injured patients to the surgical room. Meanwhile, the MBT2 assisted Drek, who wore a surgery robe, in commencing the operating procedures. With the seamless support of the drones, the surgeries were completed swiftly, in just a matter of minutes.

The house is full of injured elves, who have been busy for about an hour now. Ushu waits outside, hoping they'll finish soon. Suddenly, the village chief and its subordinates arrive.

The chief and its subordinates bowed to Ushu. "Hello there, young hero," the chief said. "May I have the answer from the human hero who saved us all?"

Ushu stood up and spoke calmly, "The human said he will be with you in a moment."

The Elven chief and its subordinates exchanged glances, their faces filled with joy."We will finally meet him!" exclaimed a random subordinate.

"Hurayyyy! I'm so happy!" cheered another subordinate.

The joyful atmosphere came to a sudden halt as the door swung open, revealing a surprising sight: Drek, who was removing his surgery robe. "Hello, everyone. Shall we begin this meeting?" he said, catching them all off guard.
