Sayid's face contorted grotesquely, his temples throbbing, as he brandished a syringe and lunged toward Su Junxin's neck—

In a fraction of a second, Junxin, who had just slumped to the ground, suddenly sprang back to life and snatched the syringe from Sayid's grasp. With a swift, fierce jab, she plunged it into Sayid. His painful scream rang out as the liquid was entirely injected into his body. He convulsed, foaming at the mouth, and fell, twisted, to the floor.

Upon sighting this, the burly man was horrified. He roared in anger, aimed his gun at Junxin's back, and pulled the trigger.

The bullet tore through the air. Junxin's pupils contracted drastically. "Damn it," she thought—she had managed to cut her ropes with a shard of glass during her conversation with Sayid, but being bound for so long had restricted her blood flow. Her sudden movements had exhausted all her strength.

She couldn't evade this bullet.
