Chapter 23 - I'm the Best

After settling Lu Shifeng, everything else was a minor problem.

Although all the recruitment companies had rejected her before, she still had a friend—Canger.

She logged onto the photography forum and sent him a message, asking if their magazine agency was hiring recently.

Canger replied with haste: [Come quickly! Coincidentally, we have to make a trip to Iceland for that diamond advertisement. If you're here, come with me. I'm a little worried about the photographer we have this time.]

A smile appeared on Su Xingyu's lips. [You don't have to worry about me? I've never taken commercial photography before.] Commercial photography differed from ordinary photography. It could be said to be a different field. From the composition to the lighting, everything was different. The requirements were very detailed and could not be sloppy. Even a very outstanding news photographer or a glamorous photographer might not take on commercial photography.

However, Canger said: [I believe you.]

She wondered where his blind trust came from.

The smile on Su Xingyu's lips widened a little, but she regretfully typed a reply: [I can't do it. Can you help me see if there are any other positions? A regular position will do. I'm twenty years old, and I haven't graduated from university yet. I can start from being a clerk or assistant.]

Canger seemed a little stunned. [Twenty. Are you still studying?]

Su Xingyu replied :[I've quit school.]

Due to the incident at the nightclub, the school had really expelled her. At this point, she no longer wanted to investigate whether it was an accident or if there was someone behind it. Anyway, she did not like that profession—she was enrolled in the business management course back then because of an abnormal performance during the college entrance examinations. She had to force herself to continue studying.

Canger knew his limits and did not probe further. He sent a message: [We have high requirements here. With your conditions, you can only start from a junior position. Are you in S City?]

Su Xingyu: [Yes.]

Canger: [Our Cloud Media has two magazine agencies in S City. One is Clouds, and the other is Dream. I can recommend you to Clouds. The environment is excellent.]

Su Xingyu was shocked. She did not expect Canger to be at Cloud Media.

It was one of the top fashion magazines in the country!

All the luxury brands and the big-time celebrities were proud to be published in that magazine!

Being able to work in Clouds was the dream of all the people in the fashion world. They were willing to go all out just to get an internship. Now, Canger was so straightforward and directly recommended her to Clouds?!

She was shocked. [W-Who exactly are you?!]

What kind of person could be so powerful?!

Canger sent a smile emoticon: [Take a guess.]

He continued to send messages: [Then it's settled. If you don't want to be a photographer, you can be a photography assistant. It's a waste for a person like you to be a clerk.] He even sent her a string of addresses.

Su Xingyu looked at the address and frowned.

That address looked familiar. She took a closer look and realized that it was opposite the headquarters of Sharp Edge Group! It was only a street away! This… did it mean that she might bump into Lu Shifeng even if she went out to buy lunch? She was already very depressed when she saw his deadpan face at home every day. She did not want to see on a frequent basis when she was working.

She bit her lip and asked Canger: [I'm not too comfortable with that address. Where's Dream?]

Canger sent an emoji of not knowing whether to laugh or cry: [Are you crazy? Instead of going to a good place like Clouds, where people would wake up laughing even in their dreams, you want to go to Dream? Don't blame me for not reminding you. Although Dream is under our company, it is a new magazine, and we don't know how long it can live. Its positioning isn't as high-end as Clouds, and it's quite an ordinary path.]

Su Xingyu replied: [It's alright, I just want to support myself. I'm not picky.]

Canger was so angry that he wanted to scratch the wall. [You're really not picky at all. Not only are you not picky, you're even ruining my reputation! If people find out about this, they'll think that I can't even get people into Clouds and only send them to Dream! How embarrassing!]

Su Xingyu sent a smiley face: [Okay, I know you're the best, but I really have my difficulties.]

[Difficulties! Difficulties again!] Canger did not seem very happy. [With your talent, it is not a problem for you to be a high-level photographer in Clouds. What difficulties do you have that you have to go to Dream to be a small employee?]

Su Xingyu sent a bitter smile emoticon.

Canger complained for a while before giving her the address of Dream magazine agency. It was also a high-end business circle in the city, but it was not that close to Sharp Edge Group.

Su Xingyu thanked him. The next day, she fixed herself up and went to Dream.

Canger had already spoken to the staff at Dream. When she reported her name, the Human Resources staff swiftly settled the paperwork for her entry. "Photo assistant, right?" The staff led her into an office filled with all sorts of camera equipment. He pointed at a man in the pile of equipment, saying to her, "Follow Lin Weilong. He lacks manpower."

As he spoke, he raised his voice and shouted, "Lin Weilong, I've assigned you a newbie!"

The man in the pile of equipment looked up. He looked to be in his twenties. His facial lines were very stiff, and there was a light green stubble on his chin. He wore a black work suit that was well cut, and his overall appearance was a little rough.

He glared at Su Xingyu with a look of impatience. "Newbie? I don't need one!"

With that, he lowered his head to install his camera.

"This is the company's arrangement," he said as he pushed Su Xingyu forward. "This young lady is not bad. She can give you a hand. Other photographers have so many assistants, but you are the only cold one. Every time you shoot, you even need the people from the modeling team to help you move equipment. Don't you think it's inappropriate?"

"Is it appropriate for her to come over then?" Lin Weilong was even more annoyed. He sized Su Xingyu up from head to toe before sneering at the staff. "Look at this little girl. She doesn't look like she has meat on her body. Can she move a lamp or a tripod? Go. Don't make trouble for me."

The staff was in a dilemma. This Lin Weilong was the best photographer they had around here, but he was also notoriously difficult to deal with.

He was used to fighting alone—or rather, because of his simple and crude work style, he had offended all the partners he could afford to offend, so he had no choice but to fight alone. However, this caused a lot of inconveniences. Initially, there were many things that he did not need to help as a photographer. However, he had to do them himself, which significantly wasted his efficiency and caused the modeling team to complain.

Human Resources had long wanted to get him a partner.

Those former lighting engineers and photography assistants who graduated from famous universities were all at odds with him. Coincidentally, this time, there was a quiet young lady. Who knows, maybe Lin Weilong would like her?

However, he seemed to have engaged in wishful thinking.
