Chapter 20 - Miss Shiyin

She obediently tucked her head back under the covers and tried to reduce her presence.

Not long after, she heard the sound of running water coming from the direction of the bathroom. He was probably showering. After a while, he walked out of the bathroom. He casually wrapped a white towel around his waist, opened the walk-in wardrobe, and changed his clothes.

She peeked through the gap between the sheets.

His closet was filled with black, white, and gray. He was wearing the same white shirt, black suit, and gray tie. He quickly put on his clothes—he didn't even need to think about matching them. The entire process didn't take more than a minute before he walked out of the bedroom, fully dressed.

She breathed a sigh of relief, her tense body relaxing.

The bedroom was silent. Without his interference, she fell into a deep sleep and only woke up at noon.

When Aunt Gui saw her, she smiled. "Good morning, Young Madam. Are you moving in with Young Master? Do you need me to help you move the dressing room over too?" She was in charge of tidying up the bed. When she went to the guest room this morning, she knew where she had stayed last night.

Su Xingyu's face started to burn again. She forced herself to remain calm and nodded. "Okay."

Since she had moved there, the servants would find out sooner or later. Besides, it was not convenient for her to leave her clothes and accessories in the guest room. She brought the maids to tidy up. Fortunately, Lu Shifeng's dressing room was big enough and did not have many clothes, so it was more than enough to pile up her things.

After cleaning up, Aunt Gui smiled and said, "This finally looks like a home."

She glanced at Aunt Gui. "Home? Didn't it look like one before?"

Aunt Gui said, "Young Madam, look at this house. It's so cold and empty that there's not even much furniture. What kind of home is this? I think Young Master treats this place like a hotel. He doesn't care about anything except eating and sleeping when he comes home every day. It's not easy for you to come here. Now that we have a mistress, it'll slowly look better."

As she spoke, she glanced at Su Xingyu. "You're not going to blame me for talking, are you?"

Su Xingyu smiled. "How could that be? Tell me about your Young Master. What kind of person is he?"

To be honest, she knew very little about him. She knew nothing about him. She didn't even know what he liked to eat or what interests and hobbies he usually had. How was she supposed to cater to his preferences? She had long wanted to ask the maids about it. It would be best if she could figure out the reason he forbade her from playing with photography. Only then would she be able to treat the problem and remove this ban as soon as possible.

Aunt Gui said, "Then you've asked the right person."

She had watched Lu Shifeng grow up, so she knew him like the back of her hand. "He doesn't have many hobbies, but he likes to work out and read books when he's free. He's quite a nice person, but he's not good with words. Please bear with him, Young Madam."

Not good with words?

Su Xingyu wanted to laugh coldly. This evaluation was polite.

How was he not good with words? He was an arrogant lunatic!

However, she couldn't say this to Aunt Gui. She thought for a moment and asked, "Is that all he likes? Sharp Edge Group makes sophisticated electronic devices. I know that the cameras from Sharp Edge Group are very famous. Doesn't he usually fiddle with his camera or something like taking photos?"

Aunt Gui thought for a while. "Yes. Young Master would sometimes dismantle those precision instruments and play with them. His hands are very skillful. No matter how complicated the instruments are, he could place them back perfectly. But taking photos? I've never seen him take photos before."

"Does he not like taking photos?" Su Xingyu tried to steer the conversation carefully.

"I'm not sure about that," said Aunt Gui. "I don't think there's any particular like or dislike."

Su Xingyu found it strange. Since he did not have any special feelings for photos, why did he treat her like that?

She could not figure it out, no matter how hard she thought about it.

Seeing that she didn't say anything, Aunt Gui asked, "Young Madam likes to take photos? If you like it, why don't you ask the Young Master as well? He should develop some other hobbies too. It's not good to be cooped up like this."

It seemed that even Aunt Gui did not know about this taboo.

Su Xingyu felt a headache coming on. She thought hard and asked, "When was the last time he took a photo?" Could it be that he did not mind taking photos in the past until he encountered something special and got agitated?

She wanted to find out about the time and event.

Aunt Gui said, "It was last year's Chinese New Year. We took a family photo. However, Young Master was not in a good mood that day."

"Not in a good mood?" Su Xingyu keenly caught onto something.

"That's right." Aunt Gui sighed. "Miss Shiyin passed away. With one less person in the family portrait, the Young Master naturally couldn't be happy. Oh right, do you know Miss Shiyin? She's Young Master's cousin. Among all the siblings, only she and Young Master are close. Once she died, Young Master didn't even have anyone to talk to anymore."

This was the second time Su Xingyu had heard Aunt Gui mention Miss Shiyin. She asked, "Lu Shiyin?"

Aunt Gui said, "Yes."

"When did she die?"

"About two years ago." Mother Gui sighed. "Miss Shiyin is pitiful. She was such a fine young lady, but she died on the streets just like that…" She stopped mid-sentence and pressed her fingers against the corner of her eyes.

Su Xingyu asked curiously, "Why did she die on the streets?"

"Young Madam, you're honorable. It's better if you don't listen to these things." Aunt Gui didn't want to say anything else.

However, Su Xingyu said, "What's so honorable about me? Before I married your Young Master, I was just an ordinary person. Why would I be so particular? Aunt Gui, just tell me. In the future, I'll be more careful when I talk to Lu Shifeng. I won't make him unhappy." She felt that there was something wrong with this matter. Two years ago was too much of a coincidence. It was when she first met Lu Shifeng.

Aunt Gui hesitated for a moment and felt that what she said made sense. As such, she said, "Alright then, I'll tell you. Miss Shiyin was on summer break at that time and went to work at the piano shop with her classmates. Unexpectedly, she met a group of thugs who… raped her and the other girls, then killed them and dumped their bodies on the streets. This incident was very big at that time, and it was all on the news. The police later said that it was some terrorists who randomly chose that piano shop as their target… Young Madam, do you have an impression of that news?"

Su Xingyu's expression did not look right. She had a huge impression of that news!

Because she was there!

When she passed by the piano shop that day, she suddenly heard a loud bang. The glass on the side of the road exploded, then a few badly damaged bodies were thrown out. She was shocked and looked up to see a few tall men walking out with machetes in their hands. Their expressions were cold, and they hacked anyone they saw. In a short while, they had hacked a few people.

The streets instantly became chaotic. The pedestrians screamed, cried, and fled in all directions.

At that time, she was so frightened that she was at a loss of what to do. Su Xingyu saw a girl--who was on the brink of dying--on the ground by her feet. She was covered in blood, and her clothes all tattered that it could not conceal her body. Her internal organs had been gouged out that they spilled all over the ground. One of her eyeballs had been smashed, and there was a deep and long cut on her cheek. Her flesh was rolled up, revealing the ghastly bones inside. The girl stretched her broken fingers and grabbed Su Xingyu's feet.
