Chapter 22 - Chapter 22

Screams pierced the air. Humanoid, biped creatures scattered across the plain in all directions. A transport with the three star emblem descended into the chaos. Dialorians. Lasers created a fire show from the transport's cannon. Mothers carrying young ran until their legs failed under them.

"Egan!" A woman with a toddler in tow called out to a man.

Egan turned around as the lasers overtook the woman and her child. He reached out.

"My Zara! My Kylen!" He cried out.

"Why are they taking our women and young?" Another man asked, cradling his wife's pregnant body in his arms.

"You're the labor force," a Dialorian thundered from above. "And your noble child is a boy."

Meanwhile, a brown Dialorian with pointed ears and scaly skin emerged from a distant structure. When Relda zoomed the cam in, she saw four towers connected by covered walkways. She selected the options and called into the passenger cabin, "We're landing on Kieran."

Ozla, Klea, and the youngest girls occupied the cabin.

"We've got the prince," Scaly Skin announced.

He hoisted a biped creature into the transport. Hundreds of Dialorians and Kierans stared into the sky as Relda lowered the transport. She stabilized the transport inches above the grassy plain.

"Get your blasters," she instructed. "Stay as inconspicuous as you can. Pick off the lone Dialorians. Shoot them."

Turning her attention to the touch devices, she selected the control for the cabin. An opening appeared, and the girls leapt, blasters drawn. Ozla and Klea sneaked off left, Tayla and Asia to the right, and Noah and Shilah marched forward. Bria lingered back. Her eyes wandered until they met Relda's.

"Come," she said. "I don't have a teammate."

Relda readied her blaster and she, too, jumped into the plain. Lasers fired in various spots. Scaly Skin thrashed his head back and forth. Bria fired, and staggered forward until he fell facedown.

"So, Mama, where did Uncle Raylay and Ty and the others go?" She asked between gunshots.

Relda stared into the distance. Triplet moons flashed in her mind. She gulped.

"Anmer," she replied.
