Chapter 39 - Friendly Hosts

They quickly proceeded with the game. It was the same finger folding game that they had played. In the end, the non-picky eater, Zhuang Nan, sacrificed himself and took the last place in the game. Qin Zhuo managed to trick Li Yue, who ended up being in second-last place. Everyone else who successfully avoided punishment covered their mouths to hide their smiles.

The SUV drove into a village where herders lived.

The village was not big, and only about ten families were living there. Each family had a small one-story house that was quite far away from the next house. They all had sheep pens, cowsheds, and other structures that housed their animals. Zhuo Ren's house was the third in the village. Compared with the houses in front and behind his, one could see that his house was the biggest.

There were large black slabs of meat hanging off the rafters of Zhuo Ren's house. When he entered the house, he even told them, "This is Zhuang Nan Hani's favorite, jerky. I will prepare a lot of them for you later."

"No need, no need." Zhuang Nan hurriedly objected.

"Don't worry, don't worry. The sun is scorching outside. Let's go inside and sit down." Zhuo Ren led everyone into the house.

The house was a typical Tibetan home. The beautiful hostess was already waiting for them inside the house. When their son saw the guests, he also smiled enthusiastically, revealing his eight white teeth.

Everyone sat down, and the hosts quickly placed food on the table. There was, of course, Yak meat and mutton. There was also some roasted fat. It was fat from an animal after it had been dried. It was shiny after it had been cooked, and one could tell that it was very filling just by looking at it.

This was one of the most precious food in the host's family. They would only serve it to distinguished guests.

Feng Lanchu had had it once before, but it was too much for those who lived on the mainland. She secretly glanced at everyone. Other than Jiang Anzhi, who did not seem surprised, the others all looked slightly awkward.

However, the fat was nothing. When the hostess brought out a plate of bloody sausages, they were all petrified.

"This... This is..." Li Yue's expression looked terrified.

"These are blood sausages." Zhuo Ren said with a smile. "We put in minced meat and lamb blood into lamb intestines. Then, we steam them until they are about 60 to 70 percent cooked. It tastes best before the blood solidifies."

Li Yue turned to look at the director stiffly.

The director nodded innocently.

"That's right. This is the surprise dish that we have prepared for you all."

"Thank you, Bro Zhuo Ren. I had wanted to try it." Zhuang Nan sat beside Zhuo Ren, copied Zhuo Ren, and used his knife to cut off half of the sausage. Warm lamb blood gushed out from the cut, causing the sausage casing to be stained red. The two smiled and ate the delicacy on the plate, not realizing how terrifying the image was.

"..." Everyone turned to look at Li Yue, who was about to faint, with sympathy. Even Jiang Anzhi, who was always composed, had a look of pity in his eyes.

So blood sausages were really blood sausages.

Feng Lanchu had an "I told you so" expression on her face. She took small bites from the piece of beef before her.

"They can't air this scene." Qin Zhuo muttered to Jiang Anzhi.

"Even if they don't put this in the main show, it would be worth it just putting it in the 'behind-the-scenes." Jiang Anzhi said sagely.

The director pretended not to hear them. He rubbed his nose self-consciously and said comfortingly, "Li Yue, let's not be a sore loser, eh."

Zhuang Nan turned to look at them with a smile when he heard that.

"Actually, it just looks scary. It tastes pretty good."

Li Yue grumbled to himself, 'You're a wilderness survival expert who eats snakes and rats raw. Of course, you wouldn't be afraid.' However, Li Yue could do nothing, so he bit the bullet and cut off a small piece of the sausage. He did not dare to savor the dish and just swallowed it immediately.

After eating the sausage, he felt as if he was going to get altitude sickness again.

Fortunately, Zhuo Ren was not annoyed by the others not daring to try the dish. He took out the best kumiss and milk tea enthusiastically and handed them out to the others, and they had a delightful lunch.
