Chapter 35 - First Time at Hoh Xil

Perhaps she had been too tired out during the day, Feng Lanchu had an excellent sleep. She felt as if she had only just closed her eyes when the alarm rang. She frowned and squirmed under the blankets. The cold air of Golmud drifted through the blankets, making the bed seem even warmer.

The incessant ringing of the alarm brought her back to consciousness. The sound of even breathing could be heard from above her head. She was pressed against a muscular chest.

... It was Jiang Anzhi.

When she thought of her predicament, she did not even have time to be coy or pretend to be shy. She quickly roused Jiang Anzhi from his sleep.

No one knew that Mr. Movie Star had not slept in his own room last night. And no one knew that the movie star had slipped back into his room, half-asleep, early in the morning.

The filming went smoothly in the morning. The guests finally finished their tasks of picking up trash in the afternoon.

The director kindly rewarded everyone with a trip to Yuzhu Peak.

The Kunlun Mountain entrance was a border by itself. Hoh Xil started at the entrance of Kunlun Mountain. Meanwhile, Yuzhu Peak was near Kunlun Mountain. This meant that they were about to step on the soil of Hoh Xil officially.

Everyone was rather excited. The car started from Golmud and sped toward the south from the north along Golmud River.

Jiang Anzhi, Li Yue, and Qin Zhuo were seated in the back row of the car. The two girls were seated in the middle row, where there were two seats, and Zhuang Nan was seated on a single seat in the middle row. All was well.

Hoh Xil was mostly flatland, and any rise of level in the land was not more than 600 meters. When one looked across the vast land, they could see various wildflowers they did not know the name of. Red, purple, yellow, and blue flowers dotted the green grass, looking like stars blinking their eyes. Occasionally, they would drive past beautiful jade-green lakes that sparkled under the blue skies.

Everyone could not help but look out of the windows. Their attentions were drawn to the beautiful flowers.

The meandering Golmud River was dark red at certain points, and it looked like blood flowing in the river.

Qin Zhuo, who had sharp eyes, could not help but exclaim, "Why is the water here red? It's so weird."

Nobody knew the answer to this question, of course, and they all turned to look at the two specialists. Zhuang Nan was a wilderness survival expert, and he did not know much about the geography of the area. He could only shrug to show that he did not know.

"The ground here is full of iron and other minerals. That is why the water here is red in color. The mercury content of the water here, including that of Budong Spring, which is nearby, far exceeds the standard levels. Drinking this water over a long time is not good for the human body." Feng Lanchu explained without hesitation.

"Oh, so that's why." Qin Zhuo nodded fervently. "Miss, isn't the spring water here very famous? Then why did you say that it's bad for the human body? Isn't that rather contradictory?"

"The water system in Hoh Xil is complicated. There are freshwater, brackish water, saltwater, and salt lakes. You will see them all when we go deeper into Hoh Xil later."

Feng Lanchu was like a walking encyclopedia, and she answered the group's questions as they traveled.

Feng Lanchu spoke in a soft and sweet voice as their vehicle passed Nanshankou and quickly reached Daxitan. The vehicle turned once, and Yufeng Peak appeared before their eyes.

The glacier was magnificent. Imagine a large flowing river suddenly being stopped and then being frozen quickly. The gushing water stopped, frozen in time, waiting for the day the button stopping it to be released so that it can flow once more. The scene before them was spectacular.

Everyone cheered excitedly. "Hi, Snow Mountain!"

Qin Zhuo and Wan Shishi started to run around the giant glacier. Even Jiang Anzhi, who had always been lofty and aloof, took out his camera from his backpack and took pictures of Yuzhu Peak.

Feng Lanchu followed behind them worriedly and told them to stay calm, conserve their energy, and avoid vigorous activities. It was a pity that everyone was too excited to take her advice to heart.

Shortly after that, Qin Zhuo and Wan Shishi had a headache and felt their hearts were pounding heavily. They grew dizzy and had no choice but to stop and rest.

Meanwhile, Li Yue and Jiang Anzhi continued to take pictures with ease.
