After listening to Hana's story, Ryuji looked thoughtful. Maybe he was surprised that some girls he knew had picked on Hana, or maybe he suspected that this kind of thing could happen. It was impossible to know, especially because he didn't express anything in particular. No surprise or anger. He just thanked Hana for teaching him, and for explaining the situation to him.
Then, knowing that some of the girls in the group were watching the duo again, Ryuji conceded that it might not be the best idea to walk Hana back to her bus stop. So he let her go first, sitting in the library to make sure the girls there wouldn't follow her. Once he was sure that Hana was gone for several minutes, he stood up and walked over to the small group.
"Hey, I need to talk to Kaeri," he told them.
