Kaori
The Savior rode on the back of a horse with one of the two guards who came out to accompany her. From the upper half of Amber, they rode out into the desert from which Kaori had walked into the city. The portal rested ominously nearby as the small group passed by it.
"How long did you say it was going to be?" Kaori asked.
"Around forty minutes. This way," the guard pointed ahead.
Alright, Kaori thought as they moved over dirt and rocks. Hopefully, these people are still alive. If not... Well, at least I tried.
As short as this journey was, it was still filled with nerves and worries that made Kaori's head feel heavier all the way through to their destination. Kaori hadn't seen mountains like these, land like this, before. The rolling hills of sand, the dry, hot air that pushed against her skin relentlessly. It felt like she'd entered another world.
