The pair encountered a handful of demons after that, but no Nightmares. One short skirmish after another had Ash wondering what would be waiting for her at the top, which was more and more visible with every step she took.
Neither she nor Lumina had said anything for a while. Ash figured that the realization that they were nearly done was setting in for both of them.
So, she thought, if that one Nightmare was so strong, what's going to be waiting for me at the top?
"Ash," Lumina called out.
"Huh?" The half-demon turned toward her, slightly startled as she'd been taken out of her thoughts.
"I'd suggest we take a moment to rest," Lumina stated. "I would guess the final battle is just a few steps away."
