Chapter 1 - Chapter 1

Before she could rethink what she was doing the transaction was already done. she let go of the cold metal pen slowly while her blurry vision was fixed on her recent signature.

- According to this document, you renounce the right to be the mother of your daughter with our adoption center and without turning back - the older woman's voice was partial and prejudice could be sensed in it but who wouldn't judge such a cold-hearted situation of a very young mother saying she didn't want to have anything to do with her newborn baby in exchange of money and not just for speech but in writing too.

From the doorman to the director of the orphanage they had looked at her suspiciously giving her to understand their thoughts but thank God none got to express them to her. The babysitter who held her daughter made funny faces as she smiled while the baby shook her arms playfully.

Serena jean Katerine hurried to blink quickly avoiding an accumulation of tears in her eyes and adapted a cold countenance, the same one that took hold of her face since the man who swore that he loved her and whom she had loved in return with all her heart abandoned the country with no chances of being located, leaving her with a painful broken heart and a fruit of his deceptive game right in the arms of the blonde babysitter.

Trying to the maximum not to throw her arms towards her baby and leave there fleeing she put the check of seven zeros into her purse and slowly roused to her feet. The director a woman with grey hair and age marked on her face gave her a cold look before she chased her out with the minimum of words.

- have a good day.

She held her bag tightly making an effort not to look at her daughter whose crying echoed throughout the room. Her breathing began to accelerate while in her mind she relived the first time she had heard that cry, everything had seemed wonderful until no one came to see her in the hospital, she paid with everything she had saved for all the medical care and later on that night her world had collapsed reading the Times magazine:

"The billionaire Elliot Holmes returns to Seattle in a soon reunion with his fiancée with whom just three days ahead of the wedding, they form a couple of the year"

-She will be in better hands now - said the woman seated in front of her clasping her hands on the desk and dragging her back to reality.

Serena looked towards the end of the room where her daughter kept crying disconsolately as if she knew what her mother had in mind, she could no longer hide her tears but those wouldn't solve a thing in her disastrous life and she knew very well that she had to leave to be able to get her daughter back someday.
