"Damn it!" I shout as the bus drives away. "I was a second late." I turn around looking around to see if anyone is around. I don't see anybody but, decide flying to school is out of the question. Not in this city where there are hundreds of thousands of people. I Look at my reflection in a puddle. I have black hair and stand at a height of five foot eleven.I also have gray eyes that are unfocused. "I look nothing like a king." I mumble as I decide I'll run to school.
I run across the street without looking and narrowly avoid getting hit by a car. It honks it's horn and the driver flicks me off as they drive away.
I have to remind myself that here I'm just a normal person. No one here knows who I am and I want to keep it that way. I continue on my way to school and make it into the classroom as the bell rings.
I take stock of the room and am excited it's my first day at the school. I managed to get a scholarship to the best private school in the world. It even came with room and board. In the classroom there are no desk. There is a corner with ten bean bag chairs and in each of the chairs is the newest model tablet on the market. I sit down in the available bean bag.
Then the teacher stares at me. "Do you know what you're supposed to be doing?" She ask with visible concern. I look around and it is only now that I realize that I'm the only student in this room.
"Todays my first day here." I explain. Her face softens as she explains that on the tablet should be a schedule with a lab number on it. She tells me that my retina will unlock the tablet and the lab. Then she sends me away and goes back to looking at her tablet. As I close the door I hear the word Tasty. I can't control my smirk as I run to my lab.
In my lab I think about what I would do if I could make an object that could absorb the energy caused by friction and release it in waves or as an electric charge.
I start designing it and then I hear a knock on the door. A little frustrated, I decide to wait a few seconds before I respond to whoever's on the other side of the door.
"What do you need?" I ask with a hint of frustration in my voice." I stand up and walk to the door and open it to be face to face with a robot.
"Security breach detected." It states as it moves it's left arm. A little bit of electricity sparks between the robots fingers and is sent in my direction. I dodge it instinctively. It flies over my head and hits my computer shorting it out. With no warning the robot rushes me and knocks me to the ground. As it aims at me for the second time someone shouts "Stop!" When the robot lowers it's arm a girl who looks to be 16 with purple hair comes from behind the door.
I stand up and put my hand on my desk. "Can you explain why your robot tried to crush my head like an egg?" I ask trying not to let my anger out. But, when she doesn't answer I lose it. "I start yelling " Why did you even build the thing in the first place this is a school!" I shout.
I must have been causing a commotion because four other students show up and peek into my lab. I don't even notice myself moving as I get closer to the girl. When I see her face I get even angrier.
"Are you serious you let me miss the bus when I come to the same school as you?" I ask my roommate with ferocity in every word. She looks at me and she she clicks a button on what looks like a watch. Then the robot starts up.
"Have fun." She mocks as she runs out the door. I go to chase her but have to dive to dodge the robot fist that came flying at me in my peripheral vision. People are still watching me as I run around the robot and grab a piece of scrap metal and start waiting for an opportunity. It starts charging an electric shot so I throw the metal towards it's hand and it lands in between it's fingers. Almost immediately I run out of the room. Passing who I can only guess to be classmates as I Sprint toward the classroom. The robot comes out of the lab and shoots at me barely missing me. I hear it charging another shot as it gets closer. I'm almost to the classroom when I trip on my shoe. Not even a second later I'm hit by the electricity and am unable to move. My roommate runs closer and laughs at me.
"My name is Violet." she says then continues laughing like my running was the funniest thing she'd seen all week. I started getting feeling back in my body and immediately hopped off the ground and took my scrap metal from the robot. I think about yelling at her but then I think about the robot that hit me with enough electric to power half a house and the idea fades just as quickly as it formed. I storm into the classroom and am followed by her.
"This girl has a robot with electric cannons!" I shout at the teacher.
"Yes she does." She says with annoyance in her voice as she puts down the tablet. Here at Voyage Academy we are focused on allowing the minds of children to flow with creativity. So you are allowed to make anything that will not kill someone else." She states like it was the most obvious thing in the world. I look at her and walk out the room back into my now destroyed lab and grab my things and materials. Within minutes I have the blueprint for a weapon ready and have it approved by the teacher. I go home with a plan to get back at Violet and as I get home I go through the fridge and grab the ingredients I need for dinner. I make use of the delivery system the school has to get any ingredients I don't have in the dorm.
~~~~~
It takes thirty minutes for Violet to get to the dorm and by the time she's back I've already put the food in the oven.
"How are you doin' "Violet ask.I know she doesn't care about my answer but I tell her anyways.
"I'm a little frustrated that my knight let me get tased by a robot." I tell her. "You were supposed to scout out a planet where I could serve out my banishment." I look at her and see her frustration at having to listen to me.
She doesn't want to have to serve me or be around me. But she does anyways because I'm a child of the king. I pull a soda out of the fridge and throw it to her.
"Sorry." She mumbles before she sits down to wait for dinner. Not even ten seconds later the timer goes off and she is pulling the food out the oven. I don't even have time to move before it's plated and she's telling me to sit down and eat.
"Where's your attitude gone?" I ask with curiosity. "It normally takes you a few hours before you're ready to calm down." I state as I start eating.
"You made my favorite meal." She tells me. I wonder how that explains anything and eat.
"Do the dishes since I cooked." I yell as I walk to my room. I hop into bed and pass out hoping tomorrow will be better.
