Chapter 1 - Chapter 1 - "The Wind, Waves and View"

If your reading this then it seems things took a turn for the worst. Honestly I never thought that I would be doing something like this for your sake, but I couldn't just sit here and let everything fade away. I can't sit here and let my feelings eat me away. I guess I'm doing this for my sake instead of yours in reality. So please, read every word, because it's all true.

Monday, August 10th

My name is Aiden Johnson, I'm 17 years old and I'm now a senior at C.V. Bethel Senior High School. I live with my mom who is a music teacher at Hope Acadamy and my 12 year old brother who attends that same school. Today is the first day of school for the fall semester. Today was the first day we met.

"Aiden, you home yet?!" My mom yelled as she entered through the front door.

I walked down the stairs half dressed in my school uniform to find my mom, little brother and an unfamiliar face. I didn't care for girls then because of the outcome of my previous relationship, but I'd be lying if I said she wasn't attractive. Straight black hair extending half way down her back, a clear light brown skin complexion and dark brown eyes.

"Aiden this is Autumn, she's going to be my new student for now." Mom explained.

"Um hi, nice to meet you." I said to her.

She paused and stared at me as if she was surprised I greeted her. Not for long though as a smile swiftly broke into her face while she replied "It's nice to meet you too."

"Yeah, um Mommy I'm gonna walk to the store soon is there somethin' you need?" I asked.

"Mmm, nothing we can't do without for now." She replied while taking off her shoes.

I forgot to mention my mom offers private piano lessons, so I'm sort of accustomed to strangers coming over. I just stray clear of them and hibernate in my room until they're gone.

"Aid, you didn't ask me how my first day of seventh grade was." My brother exclaimed following me up the stairs.

"Sorry Andrew, how was your first day of seventh grade was?" I replied.

"Mmm, I'm ready to drop out."

"Your too young for that already." I replied laughing.

"I'm coming with you to the store." He said.

"Alright, go change quick so we could go."

I closed my room door and proceeded to go through a few messages from my friends. Just as I go to start changing I hear a knock on my room door.

"Come in Mom." I exclaimed.

"This isn't Mom, it's Autumn."

"Ugh yeah? What's up." I responded in a slight shock.

Mom never allows her students to come upstairs, no matter the purpose.

"Mom- I mean Mrs. Johnson asked if I could accompany you to the store?"

"I'm sure this could've waited until I came back down." I replied quietly.

"What did you say?!" She replied loudly.

"Um yeah, sure."

"Thank you!" She replied in an elated tone.

I shouldn't say she seems weird, it's more like she's very innocent at first glance. That would be my first impression of her. I finished changing my clothes and opened my door to head down to find that she was still waiting by my door.

"Heyo." She said with a smile.

"Um, you were waiting here all that time?" I asked.

"Yeah, was I not supposed to?"

Never mind, she's weird.

"Mommy we're coming back." I announce as we walked down the stairs.

"Hold on Aid, come here for a second." She said while walking into the kitchen.

I followed behind her leaving Autumn and Andrew conversing in the living room.

"I want you to try being her friend." She whispered to me gazing back into the living room.

"Um why? I'm not saying I won't, but why?" I asked in suspicion.

"She's the daughter of a friend of mine who recently moved to the Bahamas." She explained.

"What is recently?" I responded.

"They've been here for over a year now, but she's had problems making friends. Also she just transferred to Hope this semester."

"Wouldn't it be better if she made a friend at her own school?"

"Yeah, but since she's going to be coming here every other day it wouldn't hurt if you help out."

"I will but I find all this weird." I told her looking into the living room. "She seems a bit off but everybody has their issues. It's hard to believe a girl as attractive as she is has a tough time making friends."

"To be honest I don't know all the details myself, but my friend asked me to ask you as a favor."

"Alright, but I'm surprised your trusting me with her." I replied with a grin.

"If you do anything to that girl in this house I'm dropping you on your head."

"There it is." I responded with a laugh.

"I think it's too late for you, if it hasn't grown by now your probably out of luck." Andrew said to Autumn.

"What convo did I just walk in on?" I asked.

"Andrew says that I may never find a boyfriend because I'm lacking a good size booty."

"Um, what?!"

"I'm only judging her off of your standards."

"This why I don't carry you on the park anymore."

"So if a girl doesn't meet a particular size requirement-"

"Please Autumn, forget everything he said. Let's go. Mom we'll be back!"

We lived at the very south of the island across the road from a rocky beach. Not much noise, not much people, just a lot of green.

"Since your Mom is a music teacher and a piano teacher, I assume you must be really good too." Autumn said

"Incorrect, I'm not musically inclined at all." I replied with a chuckle. "I tried to play piano when I was younger, but I gave up pretty quick. I'm more of an athlete like my dad."

"Where is Mr. Dad?" She asked.

"He passed away about five years ago." I answered.

"Oh, I'm sorry." She muttered.

"Don't be sorry, our emotions are stone cold!" Andrew replied. "Aiden said we have to be like that 'cause these females can't be trusted."

"Alright you said to much." I said covering his mouth.

"I see, so a female made you hide your emotions." She replied staring at me.

"Um no, I'm just a bit monotonous."

"Hey! Let's have a race." She exclaimed.

"Um what?"

"Last person to the store has to buy the winner whatever they want."

"Deal!" Andrew shouted pulling my hand away.

"Alright, on your mark!"

"Wait a minute." I said trying to stop them.

"Get set."

"Go!" They shouted simultaneously before sprinting away in the direction of the store.

"She doesn't even know where it is." I mumbled to myself.

By the time I caught up to them, they were both sat outside in front of the store.

"So who won?" I asked walking up to them.

"Me of course, she isn't any competition." Andrew replied wearing a smirk.

"He only won because I didn't know where I was going." She explained.

"You don't say." I replied. "Question, how old are you?"

"I'm 17, why?"

"No real reason. Come on, I'm heading in."

"Aid, get me something to drink please."

"Provide me the money and of course I'll get it."

"Asking a kid for money, I'm beginning to lose respect for you." Andrew replied.

"Here!" Autumn shouted while showing me ten dollars. "One bottle of water please. If I provide, you'll get it right?"

"Um, yeah."

I wanted to say something else, but that innocent smile of hers pushed every word I could think of back into my head. It wouldn't be the last time that it happened either. On the way back I wanted to ask her why she was having difficulties making friends, but that's not exactly the best topic to slide into a conversation. She smiles a lot, is energetic, and doesn't seem shy of new people. There's something that I had to be missing.

"So, you like playing the piano?" I asked as we began our walk back.

"Well, I don't know." She replied.

"What do you mean you don't know?"

"I don't know if I like it or not so that's why I'm giving it a try." She answered.

"Well, do you have a history with music?"

"Maybe."

"How could you say maybe?" Andrew responded. "If you don't know then who does?"

"I should. How often do you go on the beach?" She asked looking back at me. "You live right across from the beach so surely you go there a lot."

"Um, yeah I used to but nowadays I'm a bit too busy for that."

"Too busy to just sit and enjoy. Enjoy the wind, enjoy the waves, enjoy the view."

"You seem to enjoy the beach." I stated.

"I've only been their once. Recently that is."

"What is recently?" I asked.

She paused before replying... "Last month."

"I just realized. You came all the way to the store with us to buy a bottle of water." Andrew exclaimed. "We have water bottles at home."

"For real? Next time I should just ask then." She replied while grinning.

It's safe to say she didn't come for the water. When we arrived back at my place Mom was sat waiting at the piano. Autumn went to start her lessons while I hibernated in my room. That was our first meeting. At first I thought nothing of it, but now there's no way I could forget that day. So I need you to remember it too. Please remember.
