Chapter 30 - Restaurant Routine

"Goodnight viewers. You're watching The Chilli News Network with me, Johnny Fish. We will bring you the follow-up of yesterday's shooting in a club that killed more than 20 people. Police already gave us the sketch of the suspect and they asked all of us to spread the information. From the sketch and the information they gave us, the possible suspect is a caucasian male around 17 to 25 years old with brown hair. at the time of the incident, the suspect is wearing a black hoodie-"

slurp* damn, that sketch looks exactly like the one that was drawn by Glavy men back in the hotel. I guess her men do have a sense of artistry after all. I think to myself as I watch the news from the restaurant TV while covered in ice packs and slurping a tasty beverage. I wonder what took them so long to spread my sketch to the media. Were they trying to find me without making me notice? Or have they all already lost their hope to find me and just dump it on the community to do their job? guess I will never know. I turn back my attention to read and scribbled Jack's physics book on the table in front of me.

RING* RING* RING* Suddenly, the telephone on the counter rings. The little girl on the counter stopped scrolling her social media page and without hurry, she picked up the restaurant telephone.

Tina: "Ravioli, this is Tina, how can I help you?" Tina answered the phone unenthusiastically.

Phone: "Can I order a cheese pizza with extra cheese? And can you also deliver it before 9.30 PM? We're trying to surprise our son here. He's been in jail for 6 years and he's finally getting out tonight."

Tina: "Sorry Ma'am we do not accept delivery orders from 6 P.M."

Phone: "What do you mean you don't accept delivery orders from 6 P.M?"

Tina: "It means we do not deliver orders from 6 P.M."

Phone: "Is this some kind of Joke?"

Tina: "It's not a joke, it's the restaurant policy."

Phone: "How am I supposed to buy my son a pizza then?"

Tina: "We can prepare your order if you want to pick it up."

Phone: "No! I want my son's Pizza to be delivered!"

Tina: "If you don't like it, there are still dozens of other pizza restaurants in the city that you can choose ma'am."

Phone: "Fine, I'll order a pizza from another restaurant that doesn't have a ridiculous policy then." Klek* the lady cuts off the phone. Without a single care, Tina just casually put the telephone down and returned to scrolling her social media page on her phone. Not long, the telephone rings again. But this time it kept ringing.

Mike: "Hey, should you pick that up?" I asked her.

Tina: "it's probably just another stupid customer."

Mike: "What if it wasn't?" I asked her.

Tina: "You wanna bet 10 dollars that it will be another stupid customer?"

Mike: "You said it."

With a smug on her face, Tina picks up the phone.

Tina: "Thank you for calling Ravioli, My name is Tina, how may I help you?" She said enthusiastically.

Phone: "Tina! Is Michael there?" In an instant, her smug turns into a disappointed look. From the table, I can already tell that it isn't another stupid customer.

Mike: "Who is it?" I asked her.

Tina: "It's that stupid old fart, he wants to talk to you."

Just as I thought.

Mike: "Can you tell him to wait for a second?" Before I get up, I remove all of the ice packs that I use to suppress my bruises. When I tried to stand up, I could feel the sore coming from all over my body. Damn, it still kind of hurts, but It wasn't that bad thanks to Lucy's compression wrap. I slowly walk to the counter to pick up the phone.

Tina: "Need a hand grandpa?" She asked me.

Mike: "hehe, mock me all you want kid, but you owe me 10 dollars." I said to Tina with a smug face before taking the telephone from her. She just gave me her disappointed face. Instead of handing me over the telephone, she put it on the very side of the counter table so I have to walk a little bit more to take it. This kid smh.

Mike: "hello? What is it, uncle?"

Mario: "Where the hell have you been Mike? I've tried to call you multiple times."

Mike: "Sorry uncle, my phone got banged up."

Mario: "What? how?"

Mike: "I got into a fight."

Mario: "you got into a fight?"

Mike: "yeah."

Mario: "with who?"

Mike: "Just a bunch of retards from the school."

Mario: "did you get beat up?"

Mike: "you think?"

Mario: " ... sigh* you should've been more careful when you're not with Jack, Mike."

Mike: "Yeah-yeah I know. Why are you calling me?"

Mario: "I just want to know if you have anything to do tonight."

Mike: "Well, I was planning to visit jack at the hospital right after this."

Mario: "Hmmm, I guess I have to send someone else to pick up and deliver the stuff for tonight then."

Mike: "Yeah, you better do that."

DING* the sound of a bell rings notifying that my pizza is ready.

Mario: "Mike, have you told your mom about your cell phone being broken?"

Mike: "Nope, I haven't"

Mario: "There's a cell phone inside the lowest drawer under the counter."

I open up the drawer to see there's an old dummy flip phone.

Mario: "You should take it and use it for now. Tell your mother about your broken phone. I don't want her to think that I overworked you to the point you don't have the time to pick her call."

Mike: "Hehe, yeah, I'll tell her."

Mario: "Alright then, I'll be out tonight until morning, just call me if something happens alright?"

Mike: "aye-aye captain." klek* uncle closed the phone. I quickly swap my sim card and put it in the flip phone and text my mother about my phone being broken.

"I won't buy you a new one." she texted me back.

"Ok." I text her back. Welp, I guess I'll have to use this flip phone for a while. Before I go out, I pick up Jack's physics book and put it inside my bag. I then get back to the counter to pick up the pizza.

Tina: "You seriously want to go out in that state?"

Mike: "What? You worried about me?" I asked her with a smug face.

Tina: "no, I was wondering what kind of accident will make you lose your life tonight. Perhaps I don't even need to pay your 10 dollars after all."

Mike: " ... don't get your hopes too high kid, I'll absolutely get that 10 dollars of yours." I said to her before I go towards the back of the restaurant. On the back, Big Sam waved at me to get my attention.

Big Sam: "Are you sure you don't want me to take you to visit Jack?" He asked me.

Mike: "I need to go somewhere else after visiting Jack."

Big Sam: "I can wait."

Mike: "I'll be fine Sam."

Big Sam: "Be careful alright?" he said to me in sign language with a little concern.

Mike: "Sure, thx for the pizza btw." I reply.

Big Sam: "No problem." he signed.

I gave him a thumbs-up before I got out of the restaurant and hopped onto the Vespa. While I hopped onto the Vespa, I could feel the sore again from all over my body. I start to think this is probably a bad idea. I look towards the warehouse thinking about using the mk3. After long thinking, I decided not to. I guess I just have to take it slow and ride carefully.
