Chereads / Red Dragon Emperor / Chapter 25 - Victory

Chapter 25 - Victory

After finishing off his opponent, Jose immediately went to support Ergou, who was engaged in a fierce battle, by dealing with his opponent. Immediately, Ergou turned around and used long-range magic to support his brother who was struggling to hold the enemy back.

The outcome was decided!

Even the strong male petrification lizard was no match for Jose, let alone the weaker female lizard. The three styles of the Dragon Combat Technique — pounce, bite, and claw strike — were used one after another. After a series of attacks, the female lizard was taken down.

After killing the enemy, Jose did not enter the battle again. Instead, he observed the kobolds fighting the petrification lizards.

On the one hand, he wanted to understand the combat power of his new servants. On the other hand, he was the boss and not a nanny. He had to let his subordinates settle things on their own.

Looking at the battlefield, the kobolds surrounded the petrification lizards and raised their spears as if they were going to stab but did not do so, instead, barking and causing frustration to build up in their enemy.

This was the kobold's strategy of hunting large creatures. They surrounded the enemy but did not attack. They used noise to interfere with the enemy's judgment. When the enemy revealed an opening, they would stab out with their spears and slowly exhaust the enemy until they achieved victory at the smallest price.

Their opponent, the petrification lizard, had a huge body and strong limbs. Its only weakness was its lack of agility.

However, Petrified Skin made up for this flaw very well. The layer of Petrified Skin on the lizard was like a layer of plate armor on top of leather armor. Even the soft belly could not be pierced by a kobold.

The only one who had any hope of harming the petrification lizard was the leader of the kobolds — Soda — but he had not made a move. He was waiting for an opportunity to deliver a fatal blow.

Obviously, the petrification lizard had also noticed this uniquely strong kobold and was on guard against him. However, it was Ergou who attracted the most attention.

The reason was because Er Gou was a spellcaster.

For thousands of years, living beings had learned a truth from the painful lessons time and again, and that was to be careful of spellcasters, or they would repeat the tragedy of their predecessors.

As the barking echoed in the cave, no one made a move, but their killing intent was dense. This was a battle of patience!

The kobolds lost their patience first. One of the kobolds could no longer hold back and launched a surprise attack from the rear. His target was one of the few areas on the petrification lizard that were not covered by Petrified Skin — the anus.

Sensing the vicious attack on the sensitive area, the petrification lizard tightened its anus. With a swing of its tail, it sent the audacious attacker flying backward, vomiting blood. He crashed into a nearby tent and stopped moving.

His sacrifice was not without worth. Soda had silently dashed to the side of the petrification lizard and thrust out the spear that was enhanced by his younger brother's Sharpen Spell.

"Hiss!"

The petrification lizard was unable to dodge in time and was injured. A bloody hole appeared on the side of its snow-white abdomen, and fresh blood flowed out of its belly.

The pain made the petrification lizard furious. Just as it was about to counterattack, it noticed an afterimage flying at it from the other side. It was a small fireball aimed at its eyes, and it quickly turned its head to dodge.

The small fireball exploded on the neck of the petrification lizard, leaving a black mark the size of a basketball.

Under the harassment of the other kobolds, the two kobold brothers took turns and fought to add wounds to the petrification lizard. The two of them noticed Jose who was watching and wanted to show off in front of their master.

The corners of Jose's mouth curled up into a smile. Under the disparity in strength, the performance of these two brothers was indeed brilliant.

The injuries accumulated bit by bit, and the loss of blood took away its stamina. The wounded petrification lizard panted heavily as blood vessels spread in its gray eyes. Its attacks were becoming more and more irrational. Everyone could foresee the impending victory.

"Hiss!"

Suddenly, the petrification lizard in the encirclement ignored the spears and turned around. It knocked away the kobolds along the way and ran towards the nest.

Jose was stunned. He saw that the red eyes of the petrification lizard were filled with madness, and its target was the snow-white lizard eggs lying in the nest.

It wanted to destroy its eggs!

Desperate mothers would sometimes kill their own children, lest they fell into the hands of their enemies.

This was worthy of admiration. It was a pity that Jose needed these lizard eggs. The small lizards would have good battle capability when they grew up, which could complement the kobolds' lack of high-end combat power.

With a sudden burst of strength from his hind legs, he leaped up, his body arcing in a parabola as he crashed into the running petrification lizard.

Bang!

The petrification lizard was knocked to the ground with its belly facing up. Sharp dragon claws dug into its body, opening a wound on its abdomen. Jose squeezed its tibia and grabbed the heart that was still beating.

Bang!

As if a balloon had suddenly exploded, the beating heart was instantly crushed. The petrification lizard collapsed to the ground, and its eyes gradually lost their luster, as if they were covered in dust, and became dull.

The kobolds lowered their heads, not daring to look at Jose.

"Never mind. It's not your fault. The petrification lizard is indeed beyond your abilities." Jose shook the blood from his claws. Through this fight, he could see how strong the brothers were.

According to the human standards of strength, the kobolds were at the beginner level, while the petrification lizards and Jose were at the intermediate level.

Of course, even if they were at the same level, the difference in strength might be like the difference between heaven and earth. This was because there was a wide range of levels. For example, 60 points and 100 points were both passable levels of strength, but 100 points was undoubtedly much stronger.

"Soda, come here."

Soda walked over to Jose and hung his head in shame.

"I saw your bravery with my eyes. I shall bestow upon you the glory of becoming the servant of a dragon."

Soda looked up in disbelief. He was so surprised that he could not believe his ears, but it took him a moment to realize that bravery was just an excuse. His master's real goal was to gain complete control of the blood-tooth kobold tribe.

However, he had never thought of refusing Jose in the first place. There were many benefits to becoming a dragonkin, so he was happy to accept it.

Soda knelt on one knee and shouted, "Thank you for your benevolence, Master! The blood-tooth tribe is willing to act as your blade!"

"Very good, very good."

Before long, Soda received the same treatment as his brother.

After the transformation of the dragon bloodline, Soda looked like he had been fished out of water, but he could not hide the joy on his face. The power of the dragon bloodline surged in his body. The benefits of such a high-level bloodline were not limited to the present. He would gain more benefits during his growth. At the very least, the most salient point was that the lifespan of the dragonkin was much longer than that of the ordinary kobolds.

While Jose contracted his brother, Ergou had already begun to clean up the aftermath: arranging for people to treat the wounded, sending people to inform the tribesmen in the temporary camp to return home, and sending people to check on the food situation in the tribe.

Only the petrification lizard corpses and their eggs were left. Ergou did not dare to deal with them without permission. Seeing that the contract was completed, he walked over and asked, "Master, how should we deal with these petrification lizard corpses?"

Jose took a look at his new loot. The supernatural beasts were full of "treasures"; for example, the eyeball of the petrification lizard was the main ingredient for making the magic item Eye of Petrification. Unfortunately, he had no specialized storage containers nor any relevant channels to sell the body parts.

Of course, even if he had the means to do so, he would not sell them. There was no need to take risks and deal with intelligent creatures for a little bit of money. This would increase the risk of getting exposed.

"Stew one to reward the warriors. Cut the remaining two into pieces of meat, and store them as dried meat for our food reserves. Make the lizard skin into leather armor — oh right — and send some people to widen the entrance so that my companion can enter."

"Understood!"

Jose walked to the lizard nest and counted the snow-white lizard eggs inside. There were 13 in total.

"Get two kobolds to guard the lizard eggs. No one is allowed near them. Ergou, show me around my new home."

"It will be my pleasure, Master."
