Death, fire, lightning, wind, earth, light, shadows and aura. Countless designs of different elements traveled through the great underground hall; chaos is not a strong enough word to illustrate this combat. The most amazing thing is how Raven, Sean and Taric run through the chaotic field to fight the cultist and undead warriors.
After the combat was initiated by Mia and Taric who broke down the gate of this floor releasing a real amount of light, the cultists not only responded with a barrage of spells as warriors and undead advanced against the shield tower that Taric used to unleash several waves. of light imbued with aura to draw attention and weaken the death element of the environment.
The extremely sturdy two-handed shield became the focal point of the scouts who probably felt extremely insulted and irritated by all this light. These idiots stay underground for so long where the light only artifices Taric's bright light must be horrible for them, especially for those with the element of death in their bodies.
When I saw the undead, I was surprised because they weren't here before, but their sudden appearance without a fluctuation of the space element means that they were here from the beginning. I knew that necromancers can cause their undead to go into a kind of coma to hide their presence, normally high level undead can have this treatment to prevent the necromancer from drawing too much attention or so that the undead don't need to be fed normally.
A high level undead might need a lot of food depending on what kind of undead he is, many necromancers may prefer to keep them dormant to avoid having to maintain really big logistics to feed high level undead during a complicated trip.
But I didn't expect this state to make the undead basically invisible to my eyes, even with the numerous interferences in my field of vision I shouldn't have missed the existence of even an undead. Their mana is very different from that of mages or the mana used by runes, but just to make matters worse these undead couldn't be in a very deep sleep, according to what I know how much deeper the sleep than the undead- alive and placed the longer it took for him to regain his battle capabilities.
These undead were ready in minutes so their sleep must have been light, but it was still enough to make them invisible to my eyes. I really have to watch out for necromancers and undead, getting ambushed by countless undead would be a death I can't anticipate with the power of my eyes, avoiding the undead is really tricky.
The undead employed by the cultists were black armor and warrior skeletons, the armor made of a metal alloy that contains mana and energies from the elements of death and earth has a defensive power that should be able to resist my blades without much difficulty, but up front. of Raven's sword or Milena's arrows they are quite fragile like the less resistant black bones of skeleton warriors that break like fragile glass against the destructive force of these two ladies.
The resulting massacre from the first battle led by Raven was considerable damage to the base's structure, not only is the roof full of cracks, but the supporting columns of the base are badly damaged. One more round like this the entire base will fall apart.
When walking through the battlefield the party is huddled against the door to the next level, but as it was already a solid metal plate rooted into the cave wall, removing it is the same as trying to knock down the main columns that support this underground base.
But that's not my problem, my current mission is to clear out the side rooms with the help of Sara and Taric who spent so much of his elemental energy and aura during the last offensive that he was the focal point of most cultists' attacks. The turret shield he was wielding has been almost completely useless, it takes very little to shatter it into several pieces during the end of the fight against the cultists.
Being a shield warrior and really too risky, actively participating in combat on a floor that was ready to defend itself was enough to almost completely exhaust Taric's combat ability. And he was wearing a shield and armor designed to take that amount of damage, my blades would barely scratch the first layer of his armor with my current combat power and I can rip a green core warrior to shreds if I catch him off guard or avoid making a power struggle with him.
His only piece of equipment is his mace, he didn't have many chances to use it during the last fight as he was holding the turret shield with both hands, but while Taric was recovering some of his energy, I already started cleaning the side rooms.
Obviously, I started with the empty rooms to avoid the poor cultists who fled the combat and just hid in the side rooms trying to survive, but that doesn't mean these 'empty' rooms are safe and I don't mean rune traps or poison spread through the air.
I just found out I can't see the sleeping undead and figured it out on this base, so any empty room can contain undead in my opinion. So, I'm keeping my eyes peeled for any movement of a mana body that suddenly appears within the room.
But luckily for me this first room is completely silent, but that doesn't change the fact that this place is disturbing either. From the reports I heard that Raven and Mia shared the cruelty of certain cultists there is no limit, so I was already expecting to see mutilated bodies and with clear signs of physical and psychological torture, but in this little 'laboratory' or maybe it's a better workshop because I associate science with what I'm seeing and an insult even to the cruel and crazy experiments that a scientist can do.
Doctor Victor Frankenstein would be quite comfortable in this room.
The human body parts not only decorate the room leaving this room looking unpleasant, they seem to be in the process of refinement hanging on hooks on every wall in the room. The part I really don't understand is quite obvious and that there's no torture or death in this room where the floor and furniture are strangely clean of bloodstains.
Obviously, these body parts were taken out and drained of their blood well before they were moved here to be refined or experimented with. The numerous metallic materials fused into some of the body parts or the cultist decided to use organic materials such as plants to modify the body parts of the dead slaves.
This should mean that this cultist is much more focused on his goal or goal than simply having fun or worshiping his evil god with acts of cruelty. I don't know if that's a good thing or makes him even more dangerous, but I hope he's already dead.
Not an arm, leg, thigh, head, or torso without a gram of modification. It has a whole body that can be divided into several parts, but it has still been hung as a set that is being interconnected by a type of plant of the element of death. It's like a plant-type undead, which as far as I know doesn't exist and taking heed of the lack of 'life' in it the cultist seems not to have been able to create a new kind of undead.
But given the sheer number of failed experiments these cultists shouldn't easily give up on their goals, I really hope he was killed in the great hall on this floor. The world doesn't need a new or new types of undead for cult necromancers to have more options to choose from.
I gather the papers and diagrams scattered around the room on a single table near the entrance, I admit that I had a strong urge to set fire to all these papers so there were no reports of these experiments. I hope this research dies here, but unfortunately, I doubt that there won't be another necromancer with similar ideas in the future, because of this it is necessary that these papers be sent to the temples to be cataloged and maybe sweated in the future to discover one. best method to kill undead with these characteristics.
Leaving this room, I mark the door showing that it has already been cleaned, it only took me a few minutes to do that but if there was something dangerous inside it would have attacked me after walking through the entire room. Raven still seems to be trying to solve the door problem or may be waiting for Volkan to appear, after so long that our presence has already become known to necromancers, some of them must have been trying to flee the base.
But that's their problem mine is breaking into the next room which has three life signs inside, a mage and two fighters, but my luck is good as they look injured and weak after having fled into this room. Killing them might not be that hard, but I have to make good use of my early advantage.
