Chapter 397 - Misfus. (5)

The flames had a different color than I expected, I thought the flames would simply be darker which wouldn't be that different since burning the wood the mansion was made of would already make the fire release a very dark smoke, but the flames that are spreading over a part of the city has a purple hue as well as dark.

It's a strangely beautiful big spectacle when you don't think about the number of motorbikes and injuries this is going to cause, but all the blame for these deaths will be placed on the cultists as it turns out it was the unholy materials, they store that caused these colorful flames, at least. it will be this explanation that will reach the population.

The purple color of the flame has nothing to do with its elemental energy and simply a chemical reaction, although I could see some poison and death element energy in the flames neither one of them is directly responsible for the purple color in the flames, nor one of those elements and connection to that color.

I spent about twenty minutes watching the flames causing chaos in the city until I saw the first group to return, they were one of the groups that had the mission to kill the plague mages or as many cultists as possible if they didn't find a target. important, but it looks like that wasn't the only thing they did.

From the well-laden backpacks, they have around their body they seem to have robbed the smugglers before the alarm sounded, after their arrival two more groups arrived before Raven appeared holding a large package, but to my surprise the fallen death knight did not appear. be her group's only gain.

It seems that everyone decided to rob the cultists but not everything and good news I see that apart from Raven's group and mine, they suffered casualties. The fight against the cultists doesn't seem to have been easy.

"Some of you found the plague mages, if you have been poisoned speak now to be cured because we will leave the region this very moment, we will not stay here for long."

No one raised a hand or went in the direction of the goat.

"Really?"

"Shit, cast a spell to strengthen everyone's health, let's start running, but don't make too much noise or leave too much aura behind."

It seems Raven believes the missing group was either killed by the plague mage or they got lucky and killed the mage and then died because of his or her magic, I only know that a plague mage in the underground base. A race taking advantage of the darkness of the moonless night began, Raven led the way using her shadow element to signal the direction for those not good at navigating the dark if they strayed from the team.

We left Misfus behind in flames and littered with corpses, most of the cultists and smugglers involved with us must be dead or dying. If any survive this night they will be married by the temples and officials of this kingdom who want to find out what happened in that mansion.

The party ran until after dawn this was a really more difficult task than breaking into the cultist's mansion, my top speed is still slightly below the party speed without the wind mage support I would have stayed behind even as a warrior of the wind element.

My stamina had almost completely drained by the time we reached our destination in the afternoon, it was still several hours before sunset but the situation wasn't as in our favor as Raven would have liked. During the morning I noticed that there was a pursuer an orange core warrior of the wind and shadow elements, the wretched and fast, but died being blasted by a shower of lightning.

With me pointing the precise direction for Mia's attack, the warrior turned to ash with her lightning magic. This was a very concentrated beam of energy that traveled at an extremely fast speed, the warrior caught off guard turned to ash the elemental barrier he tried to summon while only throwing to the right trying to avoid the beam had no use against Mia's magic.

But the real problem with this event was that we were already being chased, Raven sent some orange core warriors to fake a trail away with the help of a mage. This can buy us some time as it is difficult to find a tracker good enough to track us with the physical capabilities to reach us.

The dead warrior should be the best available elite to pursue us, without his help and the fact that his masters must be waiting for him to succeed I think the core group has a good chance of fleeing the country before a curious noble or the royal army of Kavenus.

I say this mainly because after Raven finishes interrogating Felix, she will use the wind element beasts that brought the reinforcements earlier, the main group that will use the beasts will also take whatever was recovered from the underground base. Of course, from the list of recovered items to some removed items, a gift to those who survived this difficult quest, but unfortunately these items are not very rare as everyone prioritized information during their quest.

Those with the biggest gain were Raven's group who got slightly damaged weapons and armor but still worth a great deal of money, she had no problem letting some pieces of equipment be taken as souvenirs by the other groups.

Unfortunately for me Felix's interrogation was done and witnessed only by Raven, no one else can hear or see the interrogation several protective layers that included a lightning shield conjured by Mia to make sure nothing could try to touch the privacy barriers Raven raised.

Raven stayed in that closed barrier with Felix or what was left of a destroyed death knight for about a full hour, when the barrier was broken a corpse could barely be considered alive was leaning against the tree next to Raven who seemed to be guarding the tools spells she just used.

There really isn't much left of Felix and not a single one of him can hope to hold out for long, but his soul won't go to his god when his body completely dies. As Raven's venom would condemn Felix to death, she prepared a soul tool known as the Fetters of Sin, this magical tool has the effect of rooting a soul in his body after the death of the one held by the shackles.

This is not a necromancy tool but a product of divine power, I have no idea how it is made or why it is called a magic tool and not a divine tool, but from the brief explanation I had of Raven the tool is created by artisan's runes and blacksmiths, but only completed after being blessed by a righteous deity.

Listening to this explanation I feel an extreme sense of danger, if this thing was created by the divine power of a righteous deity, it wouldn't be strange for a version of it created by an evil or evil deity to act. Obviously, I'm afraid of dying again, but the idea of something losing my soul is even worse, I already knew that there was the possibility that my soul would be destroyed during my lifetime as if it didn't exist it wouldn't make sense for a goddess to bring souls from another world for this.

But I've always thought that soul tools or spells that can bind or harm a soul were only possible for those at the top of this world's power, these fetters of sin are at best a tier three tool. Even though this thing can trap a soul for a certain amount of time, I still have a sense of danger after seeing a tool like this.

The soon-dying body of Felix who was forged in the cell of one of the wind element magic beasts which is a type of emerald scale lizard, this will be the first time I ride a magic beast this strong. To my surprise I am part of the main group, it seems that our unit has orders to report directly to the capital and therefore we have priority to use these magical beasts.

The other units will have to walk or get their own mounts for them to return home, which is particularly difficult to do when any group of strong travelers will be considered a suspect for the next few months. Most likely they will all run their way back, mounts will only be available after they pass the barrier.

With her new mounts, Raven charged towards the barrier at a good speed, but nothing special. Only after a few minutes did I notice that the speed of these lizards started to increase to what I would call fast.

It seems that the speed of this mount scales over time, how interesting.
