I was quite surprised by the information that the imprisoned death mage, Mesfus, which by the way is a very unusual name in this region. It seems he was named after a famous death mage in a realm far away from ours where the evil gods control that piece of the continent.
But the vacation and pilgrimage location for this shitty congregation's elite is irrelevant to Raven's plan, she's far more interested in defenses, profile of church members, how they communicate both long and short distance, secret codes, runic arrays and matrices used by them and to finalize everything he knows about their leader.
To my surprise, with more caste levels than I imagined there would be in the church of the god Whiro, I already expected the church to branch into three different areas since the 'great and omnipotent' Whiro has three commandments.
Death, poison and killing. Those are the three commandments of this shit god, death and poison are the side branches while killing which is not an element is the focal point of this evil god's religion. Death focuses more on warriors and mages like Mesfus who don't mess with necromancy but instead focus on death energy itself, according to him necromancers aren't as popular as they once were among Whiro's followers.
Raven was shocked when she discovered the reason for this, according to Mesfus a death element warrior broke through mortal boundaries and gained a leadership position in the cult and he brought new ideas to him. One of them was that necromancers should be completely removed from urban centers and the way they manage to propagate Whiro's teachings, which basically consists of using hordes of undead to kill living beings, must be carried out in the most deserted and wild areas of the continent.
Obviously, this change of policy did not please the necromancers, especially the older ones who had to abandon their bases and go to the wild areas. To me this seems like a shitty plan, but if you think that he wants to create the undead army of high-level beast corpses and magical beasts to achieve his goals, from what Mesfus talked about this prominent new figure and that he is very greedy and wants more power.
Because of these changes in their cult Mesfus' uncle the death knight Felix the life eater, the moment I saw Mesfus turn pale when he said his uncle's name and title, I can deduce that he is going to be a tough enemy to kill, Raven will need help to kill this death knight.
From Felix's description, the death knight is extremely cunning and intelligent which is a little different from the way he takes to strengthen his power, he is a warrior who only has the death element like Mesfus, but unlike other death element warriors your body is not simply filled with the energy of the death element.
Felix follows a complicated and somewhat unusual path; he uses the element of life to strengthen his body while his death energy does not accumulate in the physical parts of his body but completely in his core. Like me and Raven he is a warrior focused on his elemental energy and not his aura, but from what I understand he uses the opposite of his element to strengthen his body and stimulate his elemental energy instead of using his own element.
This is quite unusual, Mistress told me about this training to warn me not to do this. Using the opposite element of yours to strengthen your body is a very risky, painful and complicated training and the worst part is that to be able to do it does not depend on your willpower or resources, the main characteristic that is necessary for a warrior doing this and talent without having the talent for this type of training you will only harm your body and core by doing this type of training.
Because of this it is very rare to see a warrior like this death knight Felix, he will be a very hard target to kill for Raven who has a great offensive capability. Felix has a ridiculously strong body, his physical strength and stamina should be compared to a blue core warrior and intermediate stage or worse, this alone gives him an advantage in duels, but by Mesfus' description his elemental ability it's not common.
Felix is knighted of death because he truly is able to summon armor that stably and completely fuses his aura and multi-layered elemental death energy that envelops even his deadly weapon.
His combat power is already great, but when that is added to the divine power, he stores in his body along with the custom armor that was made by spending the entire cult's earnings for several years, the description of the aura of death that redeemed him -a seems to be enough to kill green core warriors just by getting close to him, shows that the death knight title is not given to him for free.
It's not encouraging when your target is described as a perfect knight, honestly, I think to kill such a thing it takes three orange core mages unleashing their strongest magic on him at the same time, just like that to destroy a madman that his death element has as its main characteristic weakens everything that is alive near him, elemental energy doesn't seem to have much effect against this guy either.
From Raven's lack of happiness, I think she has the same opinion as me about our main target, Raven and Mia together might not be enough to defeat Felix who is an orange core abnormal warrior in the middle stage.
I feel like this death knight could really be the death of everyone here, I wonder what kind of strategy and schemes are being developed inside Raven's mind she may have been surprised by the strength of her target but she won't give up on complying her mission so easily but I wouldn't be surprised if she decided to blow up their entire base with full-scale magic from an army of mages.
At the end of the day, we can always apologize after that as the twin goddess temples can come help us out of the realm, the main objective is to kill the cultists preferably without drawing too much attention and leave the enemy realm before we are surrounded by your army, but if it's not possible I wouldn't be surprised if Raven had a plan B and C already in place to get us out of the realm.
But Felix isn't the only enemy we have to face in that massive base, it looks like the cultists' main building has a pretty big underground structure underneath it. A cathedral, some ritual rooms, warehouses for both materials and slaves, laboratories and workshops of various types, they even have an underground garden to grow and keep fresh various organic ingredients they use.
It seems that with the many potions and medicines being brewed at that base, I was surprised that most of the alchemists' products are healing and nutritional potions. They don't manufacture much poison there, I disagree with Mesfus most of the cult's income comes from marketing healing products it seems the market is always in need of this kind of product, this makes the poison which is the best quality product made by they are not marketed.
I feel this is a great cover for these monsters in human skin, pretending to be a good organization that feeds the weak and poor and trades in healing and nutritional products is the best way to camouflage their real appearance. Who would distrust these good people?
There is not even a necromancer inside the base so we are not going to face necromancers, but we are going to face two more plague mages that have a high chance of being there and one of them is the hand of the plague mage that must be being used by the smugglers, the gold It doesn't even have any kind of connection with the two.
The many death mages inside and some healers, the rest of the fighters in the bae are warriors. It seems their leader Felix has a predilection for nurturing fighters and not mages, but from the number of matrices and runic arrangements Mesfus knows and has passed on to us he still focuses much of his defense on mages' capabilities.
The base was created in a way that plague mages can unleash all their power to clean the entire base in case something bad happens there, I was quite shocked at how cruel he can be, death knight Felix might have a plan like that aside from a few people he's worried about carrying a potent and true antidote, he'll end up dying if the base is compromised.
This will get in the way a lot, unfortunately we don't have much time to replicate the cure or a version of it for us to use during the invasion. If all goes wrong many people on both sides will die, the cursed plague mages are ready to kill every living thing inside the base if Felix orders them to clean the base.
This will be a complicated mission.
