Chapter 327 - Apostles.

It took a while for me to absorb all this new information, but the captain wasn't finished talking to me.

"What did you think of your first fight with an evil god-worshipping son of a bitch? From the way you fought it looked like you were afraid of being touched, but I have to admit that this wind element blocking art is pretty cool, but it looks very different from the arts used by monks."

"I felt that there was something wrong in his aura, it was as if I was facing a poison element user. Shouldn't the arena beware of this type of apostle? He can poison the competitors."

"Poison? That idiot's file says he's a defensive warrior with a tempered body that doesn't feel pain, his elemental energy is tougher than usual, but it doesn't say anything about poison or corrosion. Are you sure about this?"

"My extinct ones are usually not wrong, there was something wrong with his aura and it seemed dangerous so I didn't let it come into contact with my body. Is there any aura art that can do this?"

"It must exist, but I don't know of one, but that doesn't mean it can't exist. Because if such an art exists it would be used by this kind of piece of shit, but I doubt it is easy to train or doesn't have a very negative effect on the body, arts of the poison element are always risky even for those who have awakened this element, I don't know how an art to make a warrior's aura poisonous isn't fatal to those who train in it."

"Shouldn't a poison element warrior be immune to your poison and have a body very resistant to any poison?"

"To many types of poison with innumerable effects in the world, Ulric, it is impossible to have a body immune to all of them or to have resistance to all of them. Much of the cultivation of poison element elemental energy is to absorb the poison it wants to reproduce or copy the property with its elemental energy."

"Perhaps the art that that apostle cultivated might be something other than a poison, perhaps his aura is corrosive or has another property to hurt his opponent. I only know that that mummy's aura is dangerous."

"I'm going to talk to one of the people in charge of the arena so he can investigate that apostle, now do you understand why it's hard to deal with this kind of shit now? If you don't have a raw power or number advantage always avoid fighting this type of trash, the possibility that he has some strong trump cards is pretty high and how this type of trash chooses to learn arts that are just as brutal against their enemies as they are with the people who cultivate it."

"These people are pretty crazy, but as far as I know the worst among the worshipers of evil gods are the necromancers. When the war starts, it's going to be this kind of evil mage who's going to stay close to the battlefields, isn't it?"

"Necromancers aren't just mages, Ulric, but necromancer warriors and you're right about these pit thieves will come to witness the war to plunder the bodies of the dead. Remember to always collect the bodies of your allies and, if possible, even your enemies, even if it can mess up your life a little, but screwing with necromancers is always a good option."

"What is a necromancer warrior? I've never heard of it; shouldn't necromancers be mages who reanimate corpses to fight for him?"

"They are, but so are necromancer warriors. They fall into two types, the first is a warrior who uses the weapons of the dead to boost his body's power and attacks, the second type is one who turns parts of his body into a corpse, he uses the bodies of the dead to further refine their half-dead body and live longer, this type of warrior can live for a longer period of time, but in doing so even sunlight can hurt their body after it has lived for over a hundred years."

"They are not very common. Many necromancer warriors who focus on the soul aspect of their death element are mistaken for mind element warriors. Without the knowledge to recognize the signs of a necromancer or specific magic tool to track the energy of death this type of junk exudes the death element of a necromancer and quite unique because it affects all living by weakening them."

"I've never read anything like that about necromancers, in the books they describe necromancers as mages who summon the dead and attack with spells that are described as bone spears, attacking someone's soul or poisoning normal people with their death energy."

"It's normal for the church to want them killed, but they also believe that if they explain too much how a necromancer fights to the general population, such large-scale information dissemination is too risky. They fear that this will encourage more people to try to become necromancers and as only those with the element of death can be necromancers, this has caused most mages and warriors who have the element of death to be watched over and prevented from reading about necromancers."

"Necromancers are a very popular branch of the element of death, there are even records of neutral necromancers who don't worship evil gods, but that's a bunch of rubbish these days. If you find a necromancer, kill him or run away because he is a piece of junk that worships an evil god."

"How do you know so much about necromancers when it's so hard to learn so much about them?"

An evil smile dominates Captain Raven's face. I feel like I've fallen into a trap and now I'm a little scared.

"It might be considered a tradition in my family; I've told you before that my family are experts at hunting and we're not much for chasing beasts and magicians. Our main occupation is tracking down and hunting criminals or simply getting rid of some pesky people like what I did with night owls during the noble families squabbling over resource sites."

"I remember that, you made it very clear that the reason you guys enter the dungeons is for materials to be used by your own group and not to be selling them, your income and doing quests out of town."

"Yes, but who are the most valuable targets? They are worshipers of evil gods; my family has a huge library full of reports and information on how to identify and kill this type of garbage. I know more than most people alive my age how terrible the apostles of evil gods can be, only those who have physically experienced these horrors can say they understand this kind of rubbish better than I do."

"And what's the reason you're telling me all this?"

"Simple, I want you in my tracking unit after you complete the mandatory missions that will be given to you in a few months. Your party can be disbanded after completing a minimum number of quests so their members are allocated to different units, with my family's history with the kingdom I will very possibly be the leader of a unit that will target pesky figures like necromancers and other types of trash who worship evil gods."

"Do you want me to be the tracker for your team? I'll probably be in the middle stage of the gray core; you shouldn't want your group to have someone so weak. Wouldn't it be better to go after someone with a green core?"

"I want you for your tracking ability, Ulric, as I said before my family has a great tradition of hunting down troubled warriors and mages or idiotic scum, I know when I find them competent in this area of work. You are a great tracker I know this I really know this I am a tracker too and I am not very talented even with the heritage and teachings available in my family I am better than a lot of trackers but I am not better that you."

"You would be extremely useful to my unit, with you in it I will have a much easier time recruiting the best candidates I have in mind. And you're not that weak, your cultivation is low and there's no way to say it's not important, but you have enough movement ability to not disturb the team, you have no problem with the dark and you have great skills to see hide, it is rare to find someone who not only cultivates this kind of art but also has an affinity for it, not everyone can hide their aura and elemental energy so well without the shadow element."

She's right and it's hard to say no to her because this is a good opportunity, but it's also very risky. Even if I'm not being recruited to fight on the front lines, it would be very stupid to think that I wouldn't face problems, like facing an enemy stronger than me 'alone'.

"I'm tempted to accept her invitation, but I'll have to ask for some time to think about it."

"Relax, I don't want an answer right away. If you just said yes, I would start rethinking if I am inviting the right person you should talk to Grimalkin, she might already have a plan ready for you but try to let me know before you go to the capital again, ok?"

"Of course, but I'm going now, I have no intention of fighting again. It will still take a while to get my elemental energy back and I think it's best not to stand out too much."

"Okay, be careful and have good luck on your way back, try not to die or spark a war."

"Very funny."

"I know, I've been waiting for the opportunity to use this line for a long time."

I'm leaving before she tries to make any more bad jokes.
