As time goes by, the night remains quiet even with all the wolf meat available for a good meal, the weather remains the same. Not even a good night's sleep can solve the morale problem of the villagers and Vania's party members .
With the dawn of a new day the first hours of sunshine were spent preparing the three carts that are still intact, but unfortunately there are no more horses in the village so to pull the carts we had to use the horses we used for the trip so I, Raziel , Erick, Benjamin, Rafaela and Isis no longer have a mount, we will have to walk alongside the villagers.
I don't mind that much but that's not the same for the others especially Benjamin he was very angry with his new reality the only reason he didn't burst into insults was because of Vania's presence he has too much self control to maintain the facade of a good warrior he must be very interested in Vania.
With the arrangements completed, the trip to the agricultural village on the banks of the Jade River. It got its name from the color of its water which strangely has a greenish tinge when the sun hits it.
"Hey Ulric , do you know why I'm excited to go to the emerald village?"
"Emerald village? I thought she didn't have a Raziel name."
"Every village has a name, the emerald name, which is widely used in our region. But do you know why this village has this name?"
"No, and I honestly don't care that much."
"That will change when we get there ."
" Seriously ? What's good in this village?"
" Food !"
"Food?"
"Yes, the grains raised in that village are special, they are called green wheat and are unique to that village."
"As far as I know, the river passes through several villages because only this village has green wheat?"
"They say the combination of land and river waters that produce green wheat and as the village's special land is limited so it doesn't expand much even with such a good product in it."
"So why are we going there? If they are not expanded because they would accept refugees the number may be small but it is still several people for a village."
"You really don't know why ?"
"No. If I knew I wouldn't be asking you idiot."
"I thought you knew I'd heard from Torris that you talked a lot with his cousin Professor Liv."
"What does Professor Liv have to do with the village we're going to Raziel ."
"The village and her family are simple , and Torris , David and Vania the village and basically their country house, the green wheat is very valuable as a delicacy and a food full of mana the price of the kilo is very expensive and as its production is limited, the value only increases more each year. They make a fortune from the sales of green wheat."
"I didn't expect this one why didn't anyone tell me this before?"
"I thought you knew I saw you talking to Vania and Torris yesterday I thought they had told you."
"I was worrying so I thought we would have trouble dropping the villagers there. I thought this trip had become a waste of time, and good to be wrong sometimes ."
"So excited now?"
"Compared to before, yes, but I wonder what will happen next."
"Like this?"
"The mood is very negative and as we are heading towards a rich village our chance of being targeted by bandits increases."
"It would be fun to kill some bad guys."
"I disagree I don't like facing opponents who are probably outnumbered and have higher cultivation than me and don't forget that we have to protect the villagers ."
For the next few hours I had to entertain myself talking to Raziel he was fantasizing about the green wheat it seems he's tasted it before and this is one of the happy memories of his childhood. After he finished his ravings about his best dining experience I was bombarded with questions about my short trip with Hilda.
As the day went on the sun got stronger some of the children, teenagers and basically the rest of the villagers were suffering from walking in the sun, the only ones who were better were four villagers who had a nucleus even though they are all black nuclei still in the early stage their aura still strengthens their bodies enough not to be too affected by the sun.
They should be warm today, but I wonder how many days they can heat the sun. Because our trip comes down to this the next few days will basically be hiking in the sun until we leave the driest aria to a grassy plain and put an end to the village Raziel is dying to taste his food.
Over the next few days the only thing I could do to pass the time was talk to a few people I even tried to talk to Sten, but obviously it didn't work out very well. Erick and Raziel I end up repeating the same conversation Hilda always smiles at me when she passes me riding Blue she is having fun watching me walk in the sun.
With Ingredi I was able to have a constructive conversation about runes only in those rare moments I heard Sten's voice when he made a short comment about rune matrices. As for the other travel companions , I didn't manage to develop many conversations.
Vania can talk normally but she remembers Sten a lot these last few days and because she spends most of the trip in silence she is always alert and I believe she does this to project confidence to other people even in this sun I don't see her nor sweat. She cares a lot about her image as a leader and this makes Benjamin suffer a lot since he can't talk to her normally and this is one of the best moments of distraction for me.
I love to see him fail, he always has a sad face that turns to frustration when he walks away from Vania the interactions between them always end like this and even knowing the end I still have fun seeing him fail, Raziel and Hilda always agree with me we gather when Benjamin tries to talk to Vania.
I thought we were going to get attacked by wolves on our way, but it looks like the pack leader is n't dumb enough to kill himself maybe he's smarter than I thought after we wiped out most of his pack.
As I traveled alongside the caravan I always let my thoughts blossom there was nothing better to do under this sun I began to reflect on the concept of the heat that was around me the fire element was in the air and its quantity was second only to mana in the air I realized an interesting point the elements in the air were slightly different as the day went on I started with a few in the air the number increased to my day.
And at dusk it remained in the air for a few hours until it dispersed through the environment. I didn't learn much watching the fire element of nature I just got a few ideas because of it, but it proved to be a good way to pass the time. In recent years I have gotten used to the training routine and now without it for a few days I realize how boring my life would be if I hadn't been lucky to be born to good parents if it weren't for good genetics and my father's gift to me. he would probably have to live a quiet, boring life until he was killed or gradually wither away over the years.
It took me a few hours to realize that I was falling into a spiral of negative thoughts and I have to prevent that from happening. Luckily my trip is coming to an end when we pass through the green fields the green wheat really lives up to its name it really is greenish . I still find plain wheat prettier.
We passed several groups of guards who guarded the wheat fields with Vania leading the group we were not stopped until we reached the gate of the complex because calling it village and very imprecise in my humble opinion this is more of a small walled military fortification high several railings and fortified buildings I can see the mana from the materials used in construction and from the rune matrices that are used by the village.
Most of the guards have gray cores and I see a few green gilts on the walls. I am shocked by the military force that is stationed here and it is becoming increasingly ridiculous to call this place an emerald village.
"Is this really considered a Hilda village?"
"It's a little big and well armed, but due to the size of the territory it can be called a village."
"How many fighters and wizards shouldn't it rank better?"
"No matter how much wealth or military strength the territory is classified by size, the rest is irrelevant ."
This is very wrong to classify this place with the same classification as the doomed village we were in before.
When Vania arrives at the gate that is open, I see an entourage of people ready to welcome us into the village. Now I'm sure Vania must have a pretty big position in their family. Is she and like Ingredi and Hilda related to the matriarch or patriarch of the family.
