Chapter 6 - Chapter 6: Mother & Daughter

Sirena's POV

"Mother, yes, I have been keeping with my studies! You act like that I would forget that crucial matter." I spoke with my mother about my abilities, she was worried I would lose control over myself if I don't.

"That is why, I have to monitor you, my Little Rena. I don't want to lose you like-"

"Father… That is why I wanted be a ranger to help people!" I state my reasons for joining the rangers.

"You got a good heart, Rena. I hope you don't end up when if they discover you for who you are." We sat down in a café. "If that happens…"

"It won't, I promise." I assured that would not be the case, but my mother is not so sure.

"You don't know that, Sirena! Us wielders of the mystical arts have to be careful not to reveal ourselves in the open." My mother warns me not to underestimate the keen eyes of men. "All it takes is one mistake, one slip-up, one mention of your 'Talents' or any indicator that they know who you are."

"That why I have to keep taking my medicine and wear this bracelet." I brandish the bracelet in front of my mother.

"The bracelet I made for you, yes! I paid good money and…" My mother looks away in embarrassment. "Made time and love to make it work for you."

"Thank you, Mom!" I smiled

"About last night, with that young man… Todd Foxmensky?"

"Yes, he is now the team leader. Although, one teammate did not agree with the decision." I recalled Ronald didn't approve of the situation.

"He'll get over it! But about Todd, you sure that you don't have romantic feelings for him?" I rolled my eyes in surprise.

"No, Mother! Why on earth would I be interested in him? I've got already enough guys chasing me."

"Did any of them claim your heart?" my mother joked, but I slapped myself on the head.

"None of them did and plan to keep it that way!" I sharply protested against the idea of dating men.

"With that attitude, Young Lady. You won't be having kids in the future."

"Hey, I am 30 years old, mother!" I shot back.

"I know, but we got side-track on that Todd guy. The thing was, he was lucky." Mother stated the obvious.

"You mean, 'He didn't get himself killed being turned into a pincushion?'" I smiled.

"Yep, too bad. He didn't say 'oh, thank you for saving my life' ".

"Ungrateful, indeed." I said in agreement with my mom.

"Just don't forget your training, Sirena. I would mean a lot to me." The server came to our table.

"Hello, what can I get you two?" she asked.

"Can you get us 2 cricket burritos? Rice on the side and Fresh Water." I stated my order on the menu.

"Same." My mother stated her order.

"Of course, be right up!" server took our order and I took a sneak peek of her breasts.

"Oh, I saw that Sirena!" My mother caught me.

"Mom!" she is embarrassing me.
