(Einar's POV)
Walking down the red carpet my head was down and I was just hoping to be killed before what came into my sight.
I heard some rumors while roaming the streets.
Something happened.
Something 'good' happened.
Before my eyes, King Arthur was on the throne but there was another seat beside 'him' and that was Queen Guinevere.
My world crumbled before my eyes.
---
(Kay's POV)
I hate that dragon, incubus, and fairy.
These idiots meddle with humans and act like one even knowing that they are anything but humans.
I knew from the beginning that the route Merlin and Uther sorted out was nothing but a lie.
Making a girl act like a man and hand over the throne making her the king is total crap.
What the hell even is Merlin thinking when he made Artoria the king?
Doesn't he know that a lie will always be a lie? It doesn't have a long age. When exposed, the pillar that you build will soon crumble and then it will become hell.
Einar Sirius du lac, I will never forgive him.
Not because he betrayed me but making me the biggest sinner of my life.
A sinner who even after knowing the truth about the present and future, did nothing to prevent anyone from jumping into the abyss.
Einar was committing a grave mistake the moment he confessed to Artoria.
He is brave, loving, a little arrogant but strong, he is everything but shouldn't be ignorant.
What the hell he was thinking in helping Artoria to reach the throne? Did he think that after the conquest of Camelot, he could spend a normal life like humans? If so then how?
After Einar left Camelot, every knight of the round table blamed themselves as because of them that their most trusted and strongest ally left just because they were so helpless against those greedy nobles.
As if even God was unhappy about this act, little by little problems started to rise until it reached the point where people even started a gossip that the King has no sexual desires.
Seeing the grip slipping out of hand, Merlin and Artoria decided that mark the beginning of our gray days.
"Merlin, are you sure that Einar won't mind if we welcome Guinevere as queen?"
"As I said, this is the best solution. Einar has left to his own accord and after what happened I don't think he is in the right mind to think properly so even if he is here, there won't be much feasible option. I think he will understand your situation as a king."
"If you say so… but remember Merlin even if this is marriage for the sake of people, there will absolutely be no love between me and Guinevere. My heart only belongs to Einar."
"Of course, Artoria."
Seriously?
Are they fucking insane?!
Einar, my brother will crumble into pieces! He was going on with this play because he thinks it is Artoria who wishes to be king!! Do they think Einar of all people cares a little bit about other people!!!? What does that damn incubus think that Einar will understand!!!!!?
Sighed.
You know what? This is all fucked up from the beginning and it is the time they face a fatal blow.
I didn't stop Artoria from marrying Guinevere and let her do whatever the hell she wanted.
They will soon learn that Einar has, in the end, a human heart. He was the most morally upright knight of the round table. Did they ever found him flirting with another woman? Did they think that an honest and loyal person like him could *understand* King Arthur?
Utter bullshit.
When Einar would return, he will show you how wrong she was from the beginning.
And that's what happened.
When Einar was moving forward down to the red carpet towards the throne room, the atmosphere turned gloomy.
I was present at that time along with King, Queen, Merlin, and Gawain.
"Sir Einar, you missed the glorious wedding of our king! You should have given us chance to explain. Anyway, please greet Queen Guinevere."
Gawain was boasting about the wedding that was held for seven days and seven nights. That idiot dog was pouring more oil to fire by doing this. Probably only blind Artoria's follower who doesn't know her gender.
On other hand, the gloomy atmosphere proved King Arthur's, no Artoria's biggest mistake. It was probably the first time that I had seen his eyes that colorless like a dead person.
"…"
So silence prevailed and not a word could be heard. Everyone except Gawain understood the cause of such depression, even Queen Guinevere understood since she knew Artoria's gender but none of them said anything.
A single tear formed on Einar's eye and everyone saw his heartbroken expression.
Despair washed over him but that man of steel calmed himself, removed his gloomy expression by means of illusion magic, and then bent down on his knees and greeted the royalty with a fake happy expression.
"Congratulations to your majesty for marrying such a beautiful and dignified lady. I am sorry for my absence since I wanted to improve my magic a little but now that I have returned, I hope that your majesty and her majesty forgive me."
He addressed Artoia and Guinevere not as a friend or little sister but with their formal position hinting that he had already lost his hope.
"…You have done… nothing wrong…"
It was probably the first time that Artoria's voice trembled. Covering her eyes with her bangs, she didn't dare to even look directly into his eyes. That was the pathetic state of King Arthur.
"Then I will take my short leave… I am sorry…" Those were the last words to his beloved 'King' before silently taking his leave with trembling legs.
Artoria also left the throne room while Merlin followed her. Poor Queen Guinevere was left speechless. Gawain was the only one clueless about this whole situation. While I followed my sweet brother.
I didn't bother to look anywhere as I directly went to a hill near the capital and under the tree, I saw Einar with regret and hopelessness on his face.
He noticed me but didn't say a single word. Seeing him at that state, even my heart of strong will shivered from pain.
I silent got closer and took my brother in my embrace.
"…what have I ever done to her that she did this to me…?"
Tears formed in his eyes and he began to ask questions. When listening, I was struck by the sorrow in his voice.
"I never even touched another woman, never dared to even come close to them if fearing that I will betray her! Tell me, where I went wrong!?"
I had no answer to his complaints. All I could do was to give him a shoulder to grief for his pain.
"Einar… I am sorry…"
"Sniff* No… I should be the one to sorry. I was an idiot to fall for her. I was at fault to even agree to help her in claiming the throne. I was an utter fool to even think that she also feels the same to me! It was just one side affection and nothing else!"
He blamed himself for all of this. My eyes couldn't stop tears from falling anymore and began to fall.
"I loved her, never let her feel that her life is colorless, always be there when she needed me the most, and most of all I tried to be a family to her who can give her a shoulder that she is not alone!"
His every statement brought clouds to gather on cursed land that betrayed the honest feelings of lively fairy and began dripping tears of sadness called rain as if spitting on the shamelessness of these people.
"Yet she betrayed me by marrying another woman! It is so disgusting!"
Even I agree with him. Acting like a man was one thing but marrying another woman? I don't think even God could forgive them.
(AN: Yeah, I am anti homo. Fight me!)
"Brother, tell me, is it wrong to love a girl?"
"No… but you fell for the wrong person…"
"Yeah, she is destined like that! Fucking fate! I"
He cursed.
"…I guess… I was wrong all along… there was and will never be anything between us… I can't believe that I, a fairy who just wants a person to receive some affection and nothing else, would be deceived like that, it is all my fault!"
And then the fairy, who never let anyone cry, shed tears in the sorrowful rain along with me.
I was also cursing myself for being such a useless brother. I didn't think he should blame himself alone. I knew that and yet…
That was probably the day when God finally cursed this land that they will never find peace and hope since they don't deserve it anymore.
"Brother Kay…"
After crying to her start, he still called me big brother.
"If someone is raising an army in Camelot other than King Arthur then no need to provide any assistance to her. Pull all your forces as far from the capital as you can. Let her jump in her doom alone."
He warned me and without even thinking about asking, I agreed.
---
(Artoria's POV)
The thing I feared most happened, I finally betrayed the only person who truly loved me and made me feel alive.
"W-why… why I am so pathetic…?"
For the first time in my life, till I become the king, I cried.
I had done the biggest mistake of my life.
Marrying a queen as a king and then give an heir to my nation then leaving with Einar to begin my actual life, what was I even thinking when I made this hollow plan?
"I don't deserve to live!"
Saying this I put Excalibur on my neck to slice my throat and end the life of the most disgusting person but a hand stopped me.
"Artoria, it won't solve any problem… It was also my-"
"It was my decision, in the end, Merlin. I won't blame you but leave me alone."
"Artoria… I-"
"I SAID LEAVE!"
After that stopped sensing his presence.
He was right; death is only a means to escape. I should suffer and die like the pathetic and wretched person I had become.
That night, I sat on the cold floor never dared to feel the warmth of a soft bed, and with hands-on my knees, I just stared at gloomy weather that was like a curse.
I vowed to never feel any kind of joy till I die. I was a fool and never deserved a loving person like him. There was and will never be any explanation of my sin.
However, I was still shamelessly praying for him to forgive me… just once…
(AN: BTW happy ending is confirmed so do rea till the end.)
