Chapter 6 - Belgi The Priest of 23

Belgi towered over us, a mountain of a man. He clutched a large sword made of gold in his hand, it seemed to be a bit too heavy for him, but that was more problematic for us due to our good friend gravity. He raises the sword above his head and simply lets it fall towards us. The sword slashes the wooden floorboards and leaves a hole into the void. We assume positions as if we were a raiding party in an rpg. James in the front as Tank, caster and healer in the back, and the damage dealers directly behind the tank and ready to charge in. Belgi lifts the sword again and prepares for a second strike. Rex charges head long at belgi, attempting to get in a few hits. Belgi brings down his sword faster this time. James rushes in with his shield up to block the sword. The sword connects with his shield and he falls to his knees, struggling to maintain a defensive stance. Syn gets under the shield and helps James hold it up, barely managing to stop them from being crushed. A ball of fire flies over head and hits Belgi square in the chest, he brushes it off like nothing. Rex keeps his speed and strikes a hit in Belgi's leg, he stutters a bit and leans down slightly, I take the chance. As Belgi leans over, he bends his knee making a good platform. I take a leap of faith hoping that I can reach it. I manage to get a hold on his knee with my sword and drive it in as far as possible, twisting it for a pain bonus. Belgi screams in pain as my sword pierces his kneecap and forces him to the ground. He loosens his grip on the sword, giving James and Syn a chance to escape their current position. Rex follows my lead and goes up Belgi's other leg, ascending to his head. Belgi drops his sword, aiming to strike Rex with his bare hand. He barely manages to dodge it but his leg gets snagged by Belgi's finger. Rex is thrown off balance and struggles to re-orientate himself as Belgi's hand comes barreling down towards him. Syn dashes in to catch him, but he won't make it in time. Rex manages to maneuver himself between Belgi's fingers, but not before his fingers close around him. A slight crunch is heard as Rex screams in pain as he's flung away from Belgi, crashing into James' shield, toppling the both of them. Rex's left arm is broken, it's still intact but the bones are in several pieces. Maya begins to heal him as best as she can even though her magic will only be strong enough to slightly numb the pain and do as much healing as a vitamin gummy.

"HERETIC," Belgi yells at Maya, "you dare cast spells in the name of your false god!? Those fakes you call divine only exist as a stain on the lord 13's great story. You will only die after you watch your pitiful friends die before you."

The reality of our situation sets in. We knew there would be some kind of drawback on this situation but we underestimated the power of reality. This wasn't a game despite the flashy character creation at the start and menu. This wasn't if you die you go to spawn, this was if you die you die, there's no coming back from that. Belgi began to rage at Maya even further and charge towards her. Lily did all she could to keep him back but she had the power of a lighter compared to Belgi's defense. His right knee was spewing blood but he kept charging. Syn couldn't get close enough to slash his legs as he was busy trying to catch up. He was rapidly approaching Maya and we thought that we couldn't do anything. Then… everything slowed down.

'Would you like to call upon your might?' asked a voice.

"My might?" I asked back.

'Would you like to activate the skill "Reaper's Might"?' the voice asked again.

"Yes," I said, "activate reapers might."

Then time resumed and faded to black.

When I could see again, I was in the air above Belgi who had a look of pain and fear in his face. The others looked on in awe at what I had down, whatever it was that I did. Belgi began to tilt back and I saw my work, a large gash ran up his chest, pouring blood. From waist to shoulder I had left my mark on him. He fell to the ground and I landed on top of him. Before I could think I plunged my blade into his eye and he wailed in pain. Syn was running up onto Belgi's chest and drove his blade into Belgi's heart. His screams got louder than quieted down as the light faded from his other eye.

"Thanks for the assist, Syn." I say to him.

"We couldn't have done it without whatever cheat code you did back there." he says jokingly.

I think on what I had just done and how I did it. The voice in my head, the darkness, the power I had for those few moments. Trying to think about it hurts my head and my ears begin to ring. I close my eyes for a second and open them to find myself in a valley. A wall of black mountains line each side of the valley, water as blue as the sky sits in between the mountains. I stand on a platform made from what I assume is metal. The design of the platform make it look like something straight out of a sci-fi movie. The mountain walls continue on further than I can see, they go so far I can see the curvature of the earth from all the way down here. I hear heavy breathing behind me and turn to see a massacre. A person clad in some kind of futuristic super armour stands holding something that you could call an energy weapon. His armour which I would have to say was once a dark grey, is stained in blood. Mutilated bodies lie motionless around him the entire platform is covered in blood save for a few feet around me. Further down behind the slaughter stands a citadel, towering over the mountains, it's white steel reflecting the sun into my eyes, not that there's a sun I can see anywhere nearby. The killer looks at me angrily and takes a step in my direction. He starts walking towards me, his walk becomes a run, then a sprint, finally transforming into a mad dash. I reach for my sword but it's not on me, I'm back in my clothes from the real world. I try to move to the water but I can't move my legs. He takes a slash at me and…
