Hakai stood over Yamada deep in concentration, looking at three scribbles. He had been wearing the same expression for the last week. Annoyed, pouting and sulking on his knuckles. "Still angry that you haven't made a Magnum Opus yet?" He nodded. "Do you get the picture?" He nodded. "Do you really?" Yamada let out a small sigh shaking his head. Hakai took a seat next to him patting him on the back. "What part don't you get?" "All of it!" He yelled in frustration. Hakai chuckled grabbing the stick he used to make the drawings. "Here. Let me explain it again." He drew a circle around the crude sword drawing. "When you create Magic, it falls under one of three sections. This is offensive or attacking Magic." Hakai pointed to the shield to the far left. "This is your defensive Magic." "I get those parts." "I thought you said, you didn't get any of it." Yamada stared angrily into the distance, letting out low mumble growl.
"So I'm guessing this is the one you're confused about." He said pointing to a vortex drawn in between the sword and shield. "What even is that?" "That is utility Magic." Yamada scratched his head. "Do you know what the word means?" "Yes." Yamada said confidently. Hakai gave him doubtful glare. "No...." He whimpered. "Utility means...usefulness or helpfulness." "Why not call it that to start with?" "Does usefulness Magic roll off the tongue?" Yamada paused silently.
"No..." "There you go." "What does that Magic even look like?" "Your thin friend is a master at it." "Ul'lanna?" "The other thin friend." "But Jacara hasn't mastered any Magic. I mean he's really good an Enk magic, which is...OOOOH!" 'Good grief Osore. I won't call him stupid, but he's really stupid.' "Now do you know of any utility Magic, that you've seen?" Yamada cupped his chin going into deep thought. 'It's adorable, that he's trying to make me believe, he even has a thought in there.' "Karina, could jump through her gate and become lightning. The Grand Knights tuck their weapons in their capes." "Good-" "Jacara can do so many things with Enk magic." "Yes you get-" Yamada rose to his feet, his mind racing with his new epiphany. "The way Encara always teleports everywhere. I GET IT NOW!" "Okay...so do you have an idea for utility Magic?" Yamada froze his jubilant smile disappearing. "Noooo." He sobbed, falling backto his knees.
"Well you have an idea now at least. A Magnum Opus, is always a combination of all of those principles." Yamada sulked in front of the drawings again. "You'll figure it out, but just remember one thing Yamada." "What's that?" He asked perking up. "You lost the bet." Hakai said with a sly smirk. "Do you have to keep mentioning that?" "Don't be a sore loser. Also what do you want for dinner?" "We only ever eat the same thing every night. You find a Draken I eat its heart, then all the bad meat, while you get the nice meat." "Good meat is for winners and-" "And bad meat is for losers. I know!" Yamada whinged. Hakai watched Yamada from afar. He sniggered at the sight of Yamada scratching his head and scowling at a crude images, as if he could scare them into giving him an answer.
Walking off to the nearby Fork, Hakai dusted the moss of a peculiar boulder. He gave a melancholic smile at the engraving on it. The symbol for Water and Earth. With long thin wispy vines to act as hair for both. "I suppose, I owe you two a visit, but I'll be there after I fix your mistakes." Taking a seat in the newly rock pool made by Yamada. Hakai let out a sigh of relief, feeling his trouble melt away. Closing his eyes, he thought of his time in Shizukana as one of its protectors. He remembered the way the salty air felt watching the chaos and swirling energy of the Maelstrom. A large ball of water splashed him in the face. Hakai frowned. "Please don't be him. Please don't be him." He peeked with one eye looking around cautiously. Seeing no one, Hakai stood up looking around confused at the source of the water. Another large water ball splashed beside him.
Spotting an odd rippling shadow, Hakai looked to the sky seeing a Water Gate, that covered the sky, floating below the clouds. The ripples in the gate became still and motionless. He quietly snuck back to see Yamada standing motionless. Hakai felt a sense of anxiety wondering if he had died. "Gwyneth doesn't use a shield...how does she protect herself..." Yamada muttered to himself. His mind raced with memories of their training sessions. The sensation of his attack being parried sent a sharp pain down his forearms. "How did she attack?...With a tempo..." Yamada shook his head. "Water must be relentless...never ending, and impossible to hold..." Hakai watched on curious. Yamada held his fist up in the air. The gate started to pulse and spin. Large droplets of water, broke away from the gate at first. As they landed they released an Azure flash, shattering the earth beneath them.
Hakai's eyes bulged in pure shock. He looked up to the gate as the large droplets turned started to turn into rain droplets. 'Is he trying to do a Flash strike on each droplet? He wouldn't be that crazy to try something that-' The first few droplets crashed down, releasing a violent a barrage of Flash Strikes. Hakai reeled back being blinded by the strobe effect of the Azure Flashes. Yamada was still in a trance, his fist in the air, the gate unleashed a torrential downpour. Hakai transformed diving through the rain. Each droplet released a Flash strike, against him. Hakai struck Yamada across the face, sending him flying. The gate came crashing down drenching Hakai. Yamada sat up sweating and huffing, clutching his bruised and bloodied face. "OW! WHAT WAS THAT....for...." He trailed off seeing Hakai's armour cracked and broken. He fell down to one knee, holding his chest, and struggling to catch his breath. Yamada stared on stunned.
He leapt up into the air letting out a big whoop. "I DID IT!" Hakai gave him a scowl, before lunging at him and planting Yamada's face into the dirt. "CARE FOR ME AND NOT YOUR STUPID MAGIC!" He roared. Yamada let out a low inaudible groan twitching in his crater. "Ahhh..damn it. I hit him too hard." Hakai looked to the sky seeing the gate come crashing down. He looked at the devastation before him. The ground was completely decimated with thousand of craters. Hakai looked west to the Tundra Prison with a proud smirk. 'He made something even you would be proud of Vasha.' Yamada was slowly awoke to the sound of fire wood splitting on an open fire. He sat up checking his nose and face, shooting Hakai a pout. He ignored Yamada, continuing to cook a fish over the fire.
Hakai offered him a stick with the roast fish. "What's this for?" "To eat? I know I didn't hit you that hard." "But you said I wasn't allowed to eat anything but Draken hearts." "Until, you could create a Magnum Opus." Joy filled Yamada with a child like smile stretching across his face. "I DID!?" "Don't get too excited. It still needs proper training-" "But it's the beginning of one right!?" Hakai sniggered. "Yes." Yamada jumped with joy letting out a big whoop. "What do I need to work on?" "Well...basically everything." Yamada became instantly mortified, his jaw dropping. "Like I said. You still need proper training." "By everything, what exactly do you-" "Everything." Hakai said firmly. Yamada sat down sulking. "A Magnum Opus, isn't a finishing move. It's a last resort." Hakai raised three fingers. "However I can tell you the three most important things for you to fix." Yamada perked up eager and ready to learn. "Foundation. You lack the ability to create your gate while moving." Yamada nodded. "Speed. The time it takes for you to focus, leaves you open for any kind of attack."
Yamada hunched forward, ready to hear the last piece of advice. "Third and lastly. Precision." Yamada cocked his head to the side. "But...I want it to hit everything..." "That could have collateral damage...." Hakai rolled his eyes seeing Yamada's lost expression. "It could hurt other people you didn't mean to." "Oooooh." "Work on those three things, and you'll be on the way to a Magnum Opus that could scare Vasha herself." Yamada gave him a big nod. "Now eat up, we'll leave shortly after dawn." Yamada froze looking at him with a piece of fish in his mouth. "Where are we going?" "Out of the mountains. You're free to join your friends at Artaraxus." "I can!?" "Yes. I'll show you a fool proof way to make sure you don't get lost either."
"What are you going to do then? Stay here?" "I'll pay the Citadel a visit." "You'll help them in the war!?" "I didn't say that. I said I'll pay them a visit." "Gwyneth never mentioned you." "She has no reason to." "But you said, you taught her. That should make you important to her." "I had to leave, and I did so abruptly. I doubt she harbours good feelings about me." "Why did you leave?" Hakai stared at the fire crackling and flickering in the gentle winds. "Because it was necessary." He muttered. "Huh?" "Would you let Begron live, if it meant saving everyone in Jux?" Yamada froze, confused at the question. "Why would he be the reason to save everyone?" "Don't worry about that. Would you let him live?" "No." Yamada said firmly. "He deserves to die." Hakai smiled. "People aren't always who they appear to be." "Are you trying to tell me to forgive him?" Yamada snarled. "No, only that you keep an open mind."
