Chapter 41 - chapter

"Psst." Jacara whispered, poking Yamada. His eyes shot open, bloodshot and annoyed. "You awake?" Yamada ignored it, and let out a low mumble. Jacara flicked Yamada's ear, to no reaction. "I know you're not sleeping." He whispered. Yamada forced his eyes closed. "Huh, guess you are asleep. Well I've been meaning to get this off my chest. Before you came to the Citadel, me and Gwyneth made love." Yamada let out a low growl. "She told me that, I was the best she ever had. And that no man could satisfy her ever again." Yamada's eyes shot open, filled with rage. "I'm glad you came, I was getting tired of filling that cave." "Jacara, I know you're lying. So shut up." He snapped, without turning around. He smirked. "Oh you're awake. And you're right, I am lying. She was a babbling mess after I was done with her."

Yamada rolled over glaring at him, summoning his gauntlet. "Will you shut up? Or do you want to try, and see how hard I can slap with this on?" Jacara scoffed, before feeling Yamada place the gauntlet across his face. The weight of the Deiridium wiped his smug expression in an instant. "I just want to talk." "About what?" "Ul'lanna." He whispered. Yamada pulled his hand away and sat up. He scanned around the dark starry night, seeing Ul'lanna standing patrol roughly thirty metres away. "She's too far to hear us, but we should whisper just to be sure." Jacara said. Ul'lanna took a sigh of relief. 'Finally, those two are awake.' Yamada laid back down, and let out an exasperated sigh. "If this is about, what I did with Skora. I'm going let you use Harbinger as a blanket."

"I know you're not that dumb. Ul'lanna has practically been throwing herself onto you. Why won't you sleep with her?" Ul'lanna held her breath, waiting for his answer. Yamada rolled his eyes. Why were these two so interested in this topic. "Because you like her." Jacara blushed and went silent. 'I'm not some prize.' Ul'lanna thought, frowning. "She isn't some prize, that I can win her from you." Jacara said. 'Thank you.' Ul'lanna nodded. "I know that. But I've seen the way you look at her. And I saw the way she looked at you, when you were explaining magic." Ul'lanna cocked her head confused. Was she staring at Jacara? "I'm not in love with her. And she doesn't see me that way." Jacara said glumly.

"She did tonight. Because tonight, for the first time, you were Jacara Cagim. Not some sleazy hound." "Well, it doesn't matter anyway. She wants you. Don't let me stop you." He sighed. Yamada rubbed his face frustrated. He sat up letting out an exasperated sigh. "Fine, then. Don't regret your choices." He said standing up, and grabbing Harbinger. "I'm not a child." Yamada marched off, to relieve Ul'lanna of her shift. Ul'lanna feigned shock as Yamada tapped her shoulder. She clutched her chest and smiled at her. Yamada planted Harbinger into the ground, and stepped in close to Ul'lanna. Her eyes went wide, and her heart bashed against her chest. Yamada stepped in closer, and she could feel his breath on her skin. "Wh-wh-" "Do you want to sleep with me? Or be fucked by me?" He said sternly. Ul'lanna froze.

She did not expect him to be so direct. What happened to the bashful Islander? Ul'lanna eked out her response, filled with regret and hesitation. "Surprise me?" Yamada ran his hand through the back of her hair. Her skin boiled, and her heart thrashed against her chest. He leaned in slowly, pressing his lips gently onto hers. She closed her eyes, melting into his strong arms, before he pushed her away. Yamada let out a grunt of pain. Ul'lanna's arcane energy had flared out, and her affinity had singed him. "I'm so sorry!" She yelped rushing to him. "I'm okay." He chuckled. "Skora stabbed me with some stone spikes." "I didn't do that because the kiss was really bad. It was really good and I lost-" Yamada grabbed her by the waist, pulling her in close, pressing his lips onto her. She pulled away. "I don't want to burn..." She stopped seeing the steam coming off their touching skin. "I'll be fine." He reassured, kissing her once more.

Jacara woke up to see, Ul'lanna sleeping beside him. She wore a satisfied grin. Rage filled him instantly. He stormed off finding Yamada doing his drills. "WHAT THE FUCK!" Jacara shouted. Ul'lanna shot up in a daze, her body feeling light and numb. Yamada dismissed his armour and planted Harbinger down. "What?" He shrugged. Jacara grabbed Yamada by the collar, trying to shake him, to no avail. "You actually had sex with her!?" Yamada lurched forward completely confused, and in disbelief. "You said, you didn't care!" "I don't." He growled, still trying to shake Yamada. Ul'lanna quickly dressed herself, struggling to stand. Her legs felt weak and numb. "Then why are you still trying to shake me?" Yamada said cocking his eyebrow, at Jacara's weak grips.

"Because you could have gotten her pregnant!" Jacara shouted, shoving Yamada. He stumbled back from the shock and found Ul'lanna standing in front of him. "Are you done? Because we're a week from the Silver City. Dealing with my womb, won't be an issue there." She said crossing her arms. Jacara went bright red. She scoffed shaking her head. "I heard you two talking last night. You said you were okay with it." The two men shared a quick look before, locking eyes with Ul'lanna. "How far can you hear?" They asked. "Not important." She quickly brushed it off. "You are unbelievable. How do you have the audacity to get angry at Yamada, when he's done nothing wrong." She scolded. Jacara looked down seeing Ul'lanna's legs quivering and trembling.

Jacara turned back to Yamada. "Seriously, what do you do? I'll give you anything you want, if you teach me what you're doing." Yamada rolled his eyes, walking away from him. "I can teach you how to use drown." Jacara called out. "You told me that's Enk magic, just acting as water." Yamada said, waving him off. Jacara followed after him, with Ul'lanna struggling to keep herself up right. "The principles of magic are all the same. With your insane amount of arcane energy, and natural affinity, you could drown Begron in a towering tidal wave." Jacara called out. "Jacara. Yamada is a true knight and gentleman. He won't tell-" She stopped seeing Yamada spin around with a grin, stretching from ear to ear. "You had me at drown." Ul'lanna rolled her eyes, as Jacara rushed over to his rucksack.

The three of them marched onwards. Jacara walked with Yamada, writing down everything he said with religious zeal. However it didn't bother as much as it should. She sat comfortably in Yamada's strong burly arms. He had offered to carry her, since he felt responsible for her predicament. They dangled the three rucksacks off the handle of Harbinger. "So you're telling me, that if I follow this entire thing. I'll leave every girl a blubbering, quivering mess?" Ul'lanna nodded, and nuzzled her face into Yamada's neck. Jacara scratched his head looking at the manuscript he had written. "Doesn't your jaw lock up after that long?" He asked. "It means your mouth muscles are weak." Yamada said. "Not all of us, spent our youth being punched in the face." "Jacara. Trust me. It works." Ul'lanna said, before kissing Yamada's cheek. Jacara rolled his eyes. "Only one more week of this to go." He muttered.

Thanatos sat in his war camp, nursing his stump. The copy of Rai had melted into a gelatinous blob, a few days ago. Surrounded by other Elven Commanders, they all bore a striking resemblance with one another. A by product of letting Begron have his pick at any woman he desired. Thanatos had never bothered to learn their names, they had all become an amalgamated plague of bastards, all vying for their father's love. "We should send another wave in." A commander said, his long blonde hair flowed freely. "No, we should let them fester longer. The more resources the Grand Ones consume, the more civil unrest it will cause." Another bastard said, his blonde hair short and messy. Both we're valid strategies. However none of them would reach their goals. "Both of you shut up." Thanatos ordered.

"The Artaraxians will be here soon. We will send another one thousand soldiers to aid their first wave against the newly erected ring." He said drawing a line over the map. "What good will that do?" One snapped. He earned the glare of his Uncle. "You're young, so I'll forgive your insolence. We are not here to storm the Citadel, and die a fool's death. For an inkling of honour or fame. We are here to destroy them. And that takes careful planning and executing strategies." Thanatos growled. He slammed the horn down onto the table. "And the deciding factor in winning any war. Is not which army is bigger, more skilled or filled with monsters. It is knowledge." He said crushing the horn into dust. "As of right now, they believe themselves, to have an understanding of that horn."

From a large chest, Thanatos took out a larger horn, one the size of his torso. He plopped it onto the table, creating a loud thud. "The Artraxians fight in legions of one thousand. With only two thousand soldiers charging the new ring. They will lower their defences." The bastards of Begron all nodded, before saluting and leaving him. 'Fucking children.' He thought, angrily shaking his head. A messenger scurried into his tent, falling to one knee, trying to catch his breath. "Commander Argul." "Report." He growled, pouring himself a mug of mead. "The new arrivals and other kingdoms, have been notified. They are to kill former Captain Ul'lanna, Encara Cagim, and the Forsaken one on sight. A reward of ten thousand gold coins, and a boon from the King and Queen, has been offered." Thanatos smiled at the report. "And what of the Silver City?" He asked. "The message has been sent. They will be notified within ten days."
