"I'm telling you, Maria! Little Bo-Peep, the author of BIG BAD BOYS is coming over next week for a book signing event!"
"Amanda, can we talk about this later? I am ON the phone, and if I manage to convince this prominent client of mine, I promise I'll accompany you to whatever sign event that is."
Her pair of ocean blue eyes glistened in the dim room, almost bursting out of excitement upon her sister's promising words. She thought, it would be a dream come true if on one occasion she could be able to meet the lady of her fancy escapades.
"Mama, is baba arriving soon?" Amanda's tiny voice squeaked in their not-so spacious apartment. Mrs. Vasquez, the mother, nearly jumped her heart out.
"Amy, what did I tell you about knocking before entering?" the little girl lowered her head in embarrassment, making her mama smile. She truly is an angel.
"Ma, I wanted to ask if me and Maria can go to Miss Bo-Peep's book signing next week. I finished reading her book.. and.. and.. I want to be like her when I grow up!"
"Oh, Amanda," She pushed herself to kneel down, leveling her daughter. There was warmth in Mama's hand as she gently stroked her hair of chestnut. "In this world, writing isn't typically a place for anyone especially young girls. Nobody appreciates those anymore, at least, not in this generation."
"I don't understand.. but--"
"Hey, sorry for intruding your pep talks, dinner's ready."
"Maria, how'd the interview went?"
"I'll discuss it later, besides it's getting late. We don't wanna leave the food cold."
