Alice POV
There was just too much information that my brain cannot comprehend at once so it has to suddenly shut down for a while. I don't know how long I was staring blankly at Alex until I heard him snap his fingers in front of me.
"Alice? Are you okay?" He asked me worriedly.
I blinked, once, twice before I was finally able to respond. "Yeah,"
"It's just… a lot is going on in my life that I didn't even know," I said as I lowered my eyes and found that our hands were still clasped together. In fact, I was holding onto him which I didn't know I was.
"I know. And I'm sorry. I should have told you about your stepbrother sooner but you must understand now that for me to tell you that, I have to divulge my own story to you as well. Not that I don't want to. I was just not prepared and I was afraid of the consequences."
