When Sadie reached home, instead of going straight to her bedroom, she went to her parent's room. Since it was quite late and the night was cold, she knew that they were already in bed preparing to sleep instead of lounging on the back porch.
Sadie raised her hand and knocked three times on the door. Soon enough, the door opens to reveal a worried Diana. She didn't have to ask or say anything…her parents already know.
Sadie's eyes were glossy and puffy. Her nose and cheeks were red. There were still tear stains on her cheeks. But Sadie didn't mind how she looked in front of her mother. She didn't have the energy to fix herself before she went to knock on her parents' door.
Fortunately, Diana didn't ask. It was as if she already knew what happened and she knew that it was not yet the time to talk about it. Instead, Diana opened her arms to her daughter.
